So i just installed new updated ram and the adpater in a project stargate....i turn it on...no 12 volt led on powersupply lights up....it was lighting up the other day....but the screen still came on and then it went to a half rug pattern half yellow screen....attached are the pics

When game came on the first pic came up..plus the monitor also said i had error 33....the led on rom board also blinked 3-3-3.

And the second pic is what i have now.

Any suggestions?...I am going to track down the 12v with my multi meter...and isnt 3 3 3 meaning rom issue?....row 3 chip 3? The rom chips are in correct position and in correct orientation.

I also am not getting any life to the rom board LED..below are the results of test points on power supply board and also going into the rom board.

TP1: 4.92
TP2: 12.07
TP3: -14.29
TP4: .96
TP5: -5.16
TP6: .10

going into my ROM board: 4.44

so 4.44 is too low to make LED light up on ROM board im assuming?...because it was lighting up for about a few seconds but never came back.

I do have a switching power supply in a POS non working galaga i have...i may take the switching PS from there and put it in this stargate and see what that gets me.

and as far as 12v LED not lighting up, i do have 12v going thru the board according to TP#2...maybe the LED light itself is bad???

your MPU and ROM board caps are probably original and old and you will lose gobs of voltage through them. m personal observation on many setups. if you're content with running a switcher at 5.9v then god bless you, have fun. that's still not fixing the problem.

The Rom LED indicates the type of error and location. The first number is the error code:

1 - RAM
2 - ROM
3 - CMOS RAM

The next two digits indicate the location or additional status information on the error.

Sinistar is a bit different with the addition of the Static RAM on the ROM board.

The message on the screen indicates CMOS RAM failure. The headers on the old boards will usually be corroded and needing replacement. At that time, I would also recommend replacing the small electrolytic capacitors on the boards.

Ive reflowed the headers...did not replace any caps....not yet anyway.
