So, I ordered a new overlay for my upright Stargate from MameMarquees, and a joystick rebuild kit and all new buttons from arcadeshop.
I have never rebuilt a control panel with an original Williams style 2 way, and I have some questions:
The panel has a trough where the 2 way fits and a couple of rubber bushings which I suppose are to bring the area surrounding the shaft up to level with the panel. If I cut out a small opening for the shaft in the overlay , it looks like the top bushing should stick to the overlay.
How does one put together a Stargate CP with a new MameMarquees [no holes cut!] overlay? Do I just talcum powder the top bushing, apply the overlay, poke a pen through to locate the shaft opening and cut it out?
How about buttons? Press down to locate the opening underneath and cut with a razor?
Any general suggestions before I destroy $40 worth of new art?
Thanks,
