Stargate Countertop? WTF?

Wow....I don't know if this is epic fail? I"m on the fence....what do you guys think?

What has been seen cannot be unseen. My god.

The icing on the cake - and the one which makes it an epic fail - is the fact that, instead of a "Got water damage and had to cut it down until I was just left with this. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it works" message, it's a "$600 firm on this countertop that I made work without coins" message. That seals it.

If it was 1/3 of that price, I'd balk.

Lordy.

I can see modifying it due to water damage, but water damage didn't creep up half the cabinet! I'm sure it only hit the bottom of the cab. If it was not worth salvaging, he did what he did. Fine. To each his own, and it's for his personal use. But to then pawn it off on someone else for $600 is crazy.

I'd have more respect for him and his water damage situation if he parted it out to be used in another decent Stargate cab. Otherwise, his "surgery" just breaks my heart.

I would love to see how the PCBs and power stuff is situated. Someone ask him for an inside picture. That thing would probably make a nice little space heater when turned on.

Some random thoughts:
1) I love BEING SHOUTED AT IN ALL CAPS!
2) He never said there was water damage. He just said "I HAVE MADE THIS FOR HOME USE ONLY"
3) It would beinteresting to see how he folded up the boards.
4) He must have some pretty damn strong counters to hold up 150 pounds of video game.
5) Short people need not apply. On my counters, that thing would be a good 6" taller at the control panel than a normal Stagate.
6) Stargates in good condition go for about $450. Since that is 1/2 a good Stargate offer him $225 for it.

I know the guy who made this...he mounted the boards under the monitor shelf. When he told me he did this I threw up in my mouth a little....:004_ssad:

At first I thought this was about the Entex Stargate tabletop of the early 80's...one that I just bought from ebay and fixed. But now my eyes have seen this. It can't be unseen...
