Hello all

Picked up a Stargate cocktail with a few issues, maybe somebody can help.

So the machine powers up,then comes up with a ram error 111.

So i have checked the PS and get the following readings
Pin9 -4.9
pin8 11.3
pin7 +4.8
pin5 11.5

Swaped the rams around still have the same error 111?.
While checking the board, rams etc noticed that there is a 4164 adapter fitted but the rams are MB8264A-15 8443 B74?.Should it not be 4164?

After the machines has finished its checks the dispay on the Rom board is 0 but picture is still messed up.

Any help would be great

Cheers Mitch

Those are 4164 compatible RAM chips.

1-1-1 would be the upper right RAM chip (assuming standard mounting).

Try unplugging and reseating the ROM cable. If this helps at all then try recrimping the end of the ROM ribbon cable. You can also see if the cable needs recrimping by gently flexing the cable while the machine is booting up.

Hi

Tried the cable made no differance, swaped the rams in position 111,
still get the same error.

Then it is most likely the address decoding chips. It is not a trivial fix, but it does require some work with a logic probe and some soldering skills to find and replace the faulty chip (s).

If you can get a known working MPU board from somebody and swap it in, that could help narrow down for sure if it is the ROM board or the MPU board.
