I have a Stargate CPU that starts up to Adjustment Failure. It shows most of the high scores as all 4's. It also gives 47 ships and 47 smart bombs on a 1 coin game. when I go into the adjustment menu everything starts with a 4. When you try to change the value the first number will not change. The number of ships can only be set at 40-49. I would guess the problem is the 1C 5114 CMOS RAM. Anything else that would cause this?

Pull the batteries off of the CPU board, make sure there is no conversion around there from leakage, put in new batteries, then go into the menu and reset everything...

Classic CMOS failure, does not hurt to try the batteries like Mod suggested though...

This is an extra board. There are no batteries on the board. It should still play ok without batteries it will just reset bookeeping , highscores and default to factory settings. Factory settings are all set to numbers between 40-49 and you can't make changes outside that range. It's like the 4 is just stuck there. I did just get it to go through self test and got "CMOS RAM ERROR or WRITE PROTECTION FAILURE"
