Hello! I recently picked up a star castle machine in pretty nice shape, didn't work however. Upon first inspection i found that C1 on the power supply PCB was blown, as well as z2, the 723 voltage reg. I have replaced both of these, now F1 blows upon firing it up. I have nothing else connected and it still blows just on my test bench. Any ideas before I just start replacing everything on here? Thanks!!

**EDIT** OOPS, guess i should probably let you know what kind of supply it is. Its a Datapower 15A0183-000. Pic below.

also, it appears it may have been a grounding issue with the PCB and the housing when i remounted it, did it again and fuse isn't blowing. however its hard to find info on this power supply. does anyone know what the connectors should be reading on my vom? thanks.

When I got my Star Castle the power supply had both breakers blown due to a bad transistor and a bad voltage regulator on the sound board. That was a completely different power supply though, but you might check the sound board to make sure it doesn't have any bad parts casing anything to blow...

i have worked on several of these that look very similar to jack and the giant killer and they had issues with R3, R4, R7 and those super old MF caps that remind me of chicklets. make sure to replace the electrolytic caps too. that is where i would start. if you need any parts i should have them all in stock.

BTW: the ones i worked on all seem to have traces vaporized so look carefully and make sure the traces are all there and cold solder joints on the header pins.

Yea one trace was burnt up when I got it which i jumped out, lots of cold and cracked joints on the header pins, repaired all of this. Yea I would love to replace everything you mentioned. If I can get together a parts list I'd be pretty happy to order it from you. Let me know, thanks.

Found this schem for the PCB. Was for a jack the giant killer but appears to be the same.

its been a few years since i worked on the jack the giant killer p/s but from my recollection they sure do look identical to the one you have. as i recall there was a bridge rectifier in the bottom of the case the power supply pcb is mounted to and that was shorted also. i know i have all those parts in stock even if you don't find some of them on my site so let me know and i can put together anything you need.

I managed to get everything I needed together except the bigger caps. I need 2 of the 10000 mfd 16v (which i see on your site) but I would also like to replace the 2 big blue caps next to the transformer which are 20000 mfd 35v. do you know if you have those? if so how much?

no i don't have the 20,000uf screw terminal caps and the problem is finding them to fit the clamps. i have rebuild a bunch of these power supplies and i have never had them test bad on capacitance nor esr. i personally won't replace unless they test bad.
