Star Wars Yoke Arriving

I have bought parts from Dave in the past, and his work is top notch. Everything i've gotten has been absolutely perfect, and i really do appreciate that.
I want to offer Dave a friendly suggestion. Instead of trying to keep up with emails, pms, phone calls and 50 different threads on 2 or 3 different forums, i'd suggest that you start a thread at each of these forums stating where you are on every project you've got going.
No need to update it daily, but, if your lagging behind, or real life gets in the way, just let everyone know. It'd take about 5 minutes to update the thread at all 3 forums, you'd just need to write it one time, and copy and paste it to the threads at all 3 forums.
That way, everyone would know what was going on, or at least that your still around. I really think thats all everyone wants. As far as completion dates, i wouldn't give a dead set date. If i thought i was going to have it done in 2 months, i'd say an expected completion date in approximately 4 months. If life backs you up for 2 weeks, you can just say that - due to life beyond my control, i'm 2 weeks further behind than i thought i'd be.
I think most people really appreciate what you do, we'd just like to know a little more about what's going on.

I'm not the one in this thread THAT ISN"T EVEN WAITING ON AN ITEM FROM DAVE that was going on and on about how Dave is a liar, shouldn't be in business, broke deadlines, etc, etc.
Lets be realistic about who was really stirring the pot and doing their best to get people all worked up against Dave. It wasn't me.

I think for the sake of helping Dave to get better about communicating it may help to point out that stating "done and shipping" PUBLICLY and then not PUBLICLY communicating that they weren't shipping after all (for more than 2 months) is for all intents and purposes, lying (even if it's unintentional). That's how it looked PUBLICLY. So if you're going to state something like that PUBLICLY then you better also state it PUBLICLY when you have to backtrack on what you said. But I'm NOT saying "you lied" or "you are a liar". I truly mean that as constructive criticism Dave! I'm just trying to boil it down to a nutshell. :)

Arc... are you ready to drop it so we can all move on as it appears that Dave is shipping or are you going to respond to a month old post of mine again to continue this discussion?

My personal experience with dave@ram has been awesome. Top notch stuff every time, and last time he actually sent me some free stuff(tube of ram iirc) . I have been able to "pay it foward" and actually help another klover with some of that stuff too.

I have nothing but positive things to say about daves parts.

Keep up the good work dave. These yokes look AWESOME as well as the bz joystick bellows and all the other stuff you have managed to (lovingly) re-make over the years.

thanks again man.

I'm not sure about having dedicated threads to post to, but I'll think about it. I'd rather just make posts as necessary - a little less structure to it.

I really expected more people to post about their yokes by now. I think the Star Wars yoke project landed with a thud, but there's still a chance it could swing the other way.

Dave,
an answer to this may put many peoples mind at rest.

Do you keep accurate records of pre-payments/back orders and orders

Are you able to tell us how you keep track of names/addresses of people paid.

It may save a lot of nagging emails :)

I do have a customer order database where I keep all order, pre-order and shipment information stored. With one click, I can look at all pending pre-orders for anything I'm selling. I can search them by pending pre-order or shipped pre-order (open or closed pre-order). At any moment, I can look and see exactly how many pre-orders still need to be shipped for any specific item (yoke controller, for instance). I can search by name and see every order one specific person may have made. I can ever search for freebies I've given out over the years. It's all in there. Every last piece of info.

I might be slow to ship, terrible with estimating completion dates and bad with communicating on the forums at times, but I have my customer information completely organized. :)

Not only do I have the database, but I also keep PAPER (hard copy) records of all payments/orders so I can refer back to them in case of an emergency.

And that's it for todays lesson.

Dave

Wow!

WTH did my thread turn into?

This was just a quick thanks for the SW yoke. Turned into a lot more...

You're the best!
