Assuming I wanted to install 1 or more DC fans into my UR cabinet, where would I get 12 VDC? Is ok to pull it from pin 4 of J10 on the ARII board? Is there a different or better location for this?

I did that for a fan in my Tempest. It doesn't move a lot of air, but I made no permanent mods. Spade connectors to the AR2.

I'd recommend going with a 120v fan. The cab is already wired for it, all you have to do is tap into the existing wiring for the fan. That power is fused and separate from any of the game logic circuits. If you tap into your AR2 or game board, you are asking for trouble if the fan siezes up or fails.

Just my opinion here, 12v fans are cheaper and easier to find, but I chose to go 120v to keep it isolated from the game board circuit.

I used to have a Star Wars with a K6100 in it. I mounted two 80mm 12vdc fans (low cfm and low current draw) above the monitor. I powered those from the unregulated +10.3vdc from the A/R-II board. You can just slide quick disconnects over the test tabs sticking up from the board.

When I add a cooling fan (cabinet intake or outlet) to a game that never had one, I normally use a 92mm 120vac fan:

When I want a 120mm 120vac fan, I use:

They're lower rpm, lower noise, but still move ample air.

When I add internal cooling fans inside a cabinet (for monitors or pcbs), I typically go 12vdc and use this 80mm fan:

+100

Also 12V will not move enough air to keep things cool. Get a nice and silent Papst fan. Really worth a bit extra money.
