Star Wars UR vs. SD PCBs, and matching serial numbers, do you care?

I know the PCB for Stars Wars is the same in the upright and cockpit, but the label on the PCB is different. Uprights have "URxxxx" and cockpits have "SDxxxx", where SD is for Sit Down (and xxxx is the serial number).

I was testing some Star Wars boards this weekend and have a full matching SD set. Personally I couldn't care either way if I had a cockpit whether it had an SD or UR PCB set. Do any of you care?

Which I guess leads to a more general question, do any of you care if the serial numbers match on a PCB set and also compared to the cabinet serial number? Just wondering if any of you care and if so, why? I mean, who sees the inside of the game? I guess maybe if it was serial #1, but even then wouldn't mean much to me.

Then again, if I sell the PCB on ebay, you better believe I'll be hawking the "original cockpit boardset" sales gimmic!

I do not care about the matching numbers, I think it's just bleed over from the car guys liking them. My Joust has all the game boards and monitor it came with from the factory, and when the PS got flakey I slapped a switcher in there. And I put in a green ROM board so I could hunt pterodactyls. Didn't hesitate to do either. Of course, I did keep the originals, but I keep everything.

Can't say that I care at all. (I'm a purist, but not THAT much of one.)

Hell, I don't even know if my Star Wars boards match my cab or not. Never thought to look.

Considering that serial numbers are printed on a piece of paper and stuck to the board somewhere, its not permanent, to me the matching number thing does not matter. If it was engraved or manufactured directly into the board I might take it a little more serious.

I like matching numbers. It's neat to have a game that's "all original" and I think I'd actually pay a little more because of it.

It's just a different aspect of the hobby in my view... some think of it and some don't.

I wrestled with fixing my Tempest cabaret PCB *JUST* because that game is 100% matching and it brought a smile to my face keeping it that way. :D

I guess matching numbers matter if all the boards match the cabinet. If not, then I'm not as picky. Then again some numbers are on a paper sticker like my Sinistar.

The Star Wars UR I just picked up is serial #33, however, none of the boards inside have matching serial numbers. The power supply and deflection board are from a "SD" and the rest is "UR" with completely different numbers. I figure being one of the earliest SW cabs, this one has probably had everything replaced at some point. It also has a Firefox yoke overlay.
Matching numbers are nice, but as long as it works, I don't really care.

You know - I couldn't give a rats ass about (matched!). Unless the thing is in MINT condition the serial numbers will only matter to a hard core collector anyway.
The point made above hit the nail on the head - most games this old have had parts fail and replaced by someone at sometime. I say if you have macthing serial #'s that's awesome congrats - but will it ever make me want to play a game more or pay more for it? Not a chance.

My Star Wars has a low SN , under 100, and all the numbers match. I would send my board out for repair before replacing to keep the numbers matching. Do i think it increases the value ? Only for some people. I would have bought this machine even if the numbers did not match, but since they do i will try and keep it that way.

i'm just happy to have a fully working SW upright, now in an actual SW cabinet - instead of the ROTJ that it was in. lol. Now, do i care? if i did, i probably wouldn't have put the SW/ESB kit in there, now would i? lol. Nope. i personally don't care one bit.

My numbers all match minus the monitor, looks like the monitor was replaced with a WG SN#217 at some point. I wonder what was in it before then?
