Star Wars Upright Arcade Monitor and Board - Help Needed!

Just looking around to see if I could get some more pots. Looks like they're 10kohm, 2kohm, 200ohm pots.
Uploaded a pic showing the kind of mess with the text and added a video showing the screens going through the test screens showing how wonky everything is.

Any other thoughts on things to check?

do you have it set to jawa

Well they made a massive difference thank you! Replaced the two DAC-08CDB's at 6D & 8F with DAC-08CP's and was able to get a proper picture!

In the diag screens:
- No Hardware Errors Detected
- No Divider Errors
- No Matrix Errors

I was able to align the boxes on the BIP test and could get into the game.

It was great to see that to be honest, but still a fair bit to do:

- The image seems to be flickering a lot - any ideas on other chips to try?
- The Soundboard isn't working - just nothing other than the diagnostic beeps
- The 'chatter' or noise from the monitor is really loud! Is that normal because it would normally be in the back of a cab and with the sound you wouldn't notice it?

SW on a 6100 on the bench is loud and flickery.. Lots of chatter. If you are getting a clean picture, it is probably correct. SW has little blue dots in each corner of the screen during the gameplay and attract mode. You want those to be in from the corners a bit (I usually set them 3/4"+ in from the corners) so you are not overdriving the monitor.
Put the game in diag mode and get off the first screen that does all the RAM beeping.
Once it is quiet - you can ground the test point (TP7) on the sound board and it will do a full sound diag test.
Wait a while on it.. there are two sets of sounds - those made by the Pokey chips and voice sounds. One set of sounds can work and the other can be dead.
If you are still getting no sound at all .. you will have to probe around. Could be an amplifier.. CPU clock.. etc..
The sound board is pretty much a stand alone computer. It has a CPU, RAM, ROM.. etc..

Heres a link to a video I've taken going through the diagnostics tests - there's a curvature to the sides, particularly on the right hand side and the screen that's red looks strange - not sure what that test is?

It is hard to see with the video, but the lines do 'flicker'. and aren't straight - thought not sure if this is correct??

@lilypad19 - any further guidance on how to probe the chips on the sound board?

What is the sound board doing when you ground TP7? Ground it after power on and after switching to a silent diag screen. If you ground it and then power on, it will just beep at you..

I adjusted the screen to get the blue dots 3/4" in from the corners. There's movement on the lines though and on the sides, the right in particular it curves in quite a bit on the test screens.

When I grounded TP7 on the board from a silent fish screen it cycles through the voices and music:

Seemed positive, but when I went into game mode the sounds cut out, video of that here:

Also, don't know if it's me but the tie fighters seemed to move quite slowly at times?

Your sound board is 100%. I've listened to that sequence a couple hundred times. Nice to know you have 4 good Pokeys.

It sounds like something in gameplay mode is sending a reset to the sound board.
I'd also look inside the end connector for bent pins.. Make sure the finger connectors are clean on the PCBs..

Something like this 'could' cause your sound board issue..
It's also possible the reset cycle we are hearing is causing the flickering too.. is the spot killer LED blinking in the 6100?

Amazing! I just re-seated the sound board and the sound is now perfect when playing the game!
The pins on the connector do look a little worn but none are bent, I'll see if I can source one or get new connectors.

Can I ask about the speakers though, should I be getting sound out of both? I only get sound out of one of them.

No need to get a new connector.. I use contact cleaner (Deoxit) and a tooth brush and give them a little brushing.. If they are loose, I use a dental tool with a little hook on the end and give the contacts a little pull so they make better contact with the edge connector.

I'd swap the speaker wiring first to verify the the speaker works.. then work your way backwards through connections etc..
It is amplified on the ARII and it's possible the amp on the soundboard is bad..
However, a bad connection is the most likely source..
