Good morning all!
Here is what I am looking at.
I live in Texas Houston area, and I could have a chance to buy a star wars trilogy.
From what I saw while I was there picking up a different machine it was very dusty, I know it would need to be cleaned, rubbers replaced, ect. But here is the kicker. It is missing the main circuit board in order to operate the game. (mpu?? I think). I'm asking for help from everyone on here to help me come up with what a fair price to offer, taking into consideration it's condition and the amount of cleaning, and the missing circuit board.

I would love to have this pin, and get it back working.
I do have some electrical knowledge. I'm a air conditioning technician, so I am always around power. I have other arcades and a Williams no fear pin that I have worked on.
So basically I'm not a dummy, but not an expert YET! Lol

Any help would be terrific. Thanks!

I've seen some working priced in the low $2k range. A replacement board will cost a bit, but shouldn't be hard to find. If just the board is missing and it needs shopped, I would offer $1000-$1200ish range with not knowing what else could be wrong.

i was pricing one not too long ago in my area....at least around here, it was a low $2,000s game. up to maybe $2500-2600.

i'd love to have one to go with my DE SW. good luck.

By the time you add up a flipper rebuild kit, rubber rings, and the missing board, not including time, you have spent around $400 just to see what else is wrong with the game. If the DMD is bad, then add another $250.

I would also be is the $1000 to $1200 range, hoping to get it for less. Ask the seller how much he wants. Kindly remind the seller that you are buying a dead game, that you intend to fix up for you own use, otherwise the game would not be worth anything at all. It would be worth more for parts than as a not working whole.

Just my thoughts,

Tom

Thank all of you for the help! This man used to be an old operator, and has 4 storage units full of arcades and that one pin. While I was picking up my gauntlet legends from him I asked him if he knew what was wrong and he did say that he took the main board out of it for a pin he has at his house. He told me that he is tired of having to pay for so many storage units for things that he does not use anymore. So I already know he is tired of having all this stuff and having to pay for it.

I don't wanna be that jerk that just lowballs the hell out someone, but I'm all about getting a good deal, I'm just leery about buying something for 1000 to 1200 if it would not be worth fixing, or if I could fix it!

I personally was thinking in the 500 to 800 range.
Is that way to low? Or would I just be insulting him?

Thank you all! and again you have really helped me out!

I'd say you're way too low. If you bought it and couldn't fix it, I'd say there's no way you couldn't get your 1200 back as-is.

If you start low, you can come up if you don't offend him. Just remember that anything can be fixed. There is a huge amount of knowledge on these forums that can help you get it going.

Okay well I think I will start with 1000 then and take it from there! Thanks everyone! I will keep you posted and let you know what happens. I just contacted him via e mail so we shall see what happens!

IMO, that's an excellent starting point. as the dudes on this thread have noted, just point out the flaws and what you're gonna have to do to get it going again.

if you have to wind up coming off the hip for another two, three, four hundred bucks, you'll probably still get a helluva deal.

and again, good luck.
