Star Wars Trilogy joystick replacement/cabinet question?

I just bought a Trilogy yesterday, and the joystick seems like the spring is a little weak. It doesn't always center itself on the first try. Is there a fix for this, or do I have to buy a new one?

Also, does anyone know of any other games that would be good to use in this cabinet without modification? I'm thinking some sort of flying game would be cool... (Ace combat is the only one that I can think of now, but I know there are others). So can it be done by only changing the boards (I don't want to change wiring, cut holes, add buttons, etc)?

Thanks KLOV!

Damn. Thanks for the input though. I'm pretty sure my joystick is different though. I've got one large spring on the bottom, not two side springs. I might be completely wrong though. I can take a picture if needed.

Does anyone know of any games that would just be a plug and play?

Ah yes I forgot that uses the large spring at the bottom. The springs I mentioned before affect the centering of the stick so that might be a good start. Happ can help you get the part number for the large spring if you need it..

How do I know if the bottom spring is bad?

If the bottom spring is bad you will know by looking at it. As I have said the two springs on the sides are what push on the pivot ball to center the stick...just try changing those first....we are talking about 2 dollar parts here....

Not worried about the cost, I just want to buy everything I needed and replace it in one pass. Thanks again.

yeah i mean if you want to bulletproof it buy the large spring too...i know it isnt listed but a HAPP rep could help you out. If you really want to tighten it up replace the pivot ball and the foolowers (the pieces that go between the pivot ball and the springs.)

Pass along the info if you get it

I'd love to hear back if you get the part numbers. I'm not trying to be lazy, but I'm a week or two off from doing a light revamping on mine (bulb replacements, adjustments, missing screws, etc), and I get the same feeling from my joystick. If you dig in, I'd love to find out what you're ordering (part numbers, etc) and how it worked out either in this thread, or PM me. I'd love to know that it's just the springs.. :)

Will do, although I'm going to replace everything in one action, so it will be hard to tell what (if anything) actually made the difference. I will take pictures and document what I think looks worn/broken.

appreciate it

I really appreciate it. I've been toying with getting one on HAPP controls and replacing the whole thing, but won't if it's not necessary. $10 is way different than $90. :)

Thanks,
Sean
