I know it's in some threads, but this Suzo Happ joystick has made Star Wars unusable for way too long. Where do I start? It was never right when I got it. The prior owner replaced the pots on the stick and it was OK - but it went south really quick. Now I don't even play it or even try to calibrate the thing. It's kinda a worthless game and people want to play it, but it's really not even fun because the stick goes crazy.

Where do I start? Replace the spring and the pots again? I really want this to be a working game. Do you think it's the spring and where do I get one?

Thanks

No, thank you. I did not even look at this. I didn't even know it was in there. I'm going to check it out. Maybe it's the solution. He said he put in new Happ pots - but it really did nothing. Well, there may be New Hope. I am excited - though the manual is a little sketchy I think I can do it.

Ah...
I recall hearing that Ken suggested pulling that board but never saw that thread.
This is most certainly the way...

If you still have the amp boards with the adjustment pots then you should remove them and just adjust in the software setup screen. Below is the thread on the subject. Apparently, the amp boards with the adjustment are redundant and can cause calibration problems. Below is a thread on it. I hope this helps.

I had a thread with an issue with my joystick movements casing the wrong movement on screen. The amp board removal was brought up in this thread. What I found was the wrong pot was connected to the wrong position on the joystick connector and was probably caused when the pots were replaced by someone other than me.

I removed the amp adjustment board but found that it was indeed needed to make the fine adjustments needed on my cab.

KaBoom thank you for the awesome pics. I suspect that you can keep the amp board to fine-tune everything. I'm going to check everything. It's sort of sad that the game never was right - and I've owned it for 8 years...the kids love it but it has been frustrating to say the least.
