I've been working hard on my new find. It's come a long way; pretty clean and I have troubleshooted a lot of issues. I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on with the sound. I've never had a Sega setup like this, so I'm certainly in unchartered waters...

My issue is this:

The BGM plays very clearly. All speakers work with no static or buzz. However, I can't get any sound effects (MIDI) or voices. In the configuration menu I toggle between the listed samples and can't produce the sounds. At this point, I have visually inspected all the connections and boards. I have the schematics, while hard to understand due to subpar labeling, nothing seems out of the ordinary. Before I start tearing everything out I hoped that someone on here might know a couple good places to start for simple fix.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

There is an extra sound board port that you can plug into that provides really no sound at all. My original problem was that out of two connectors for three ports, one was plugged into the dead port.

It is on the side of the monitor cabinet. Look to see if it is either plugged into the wrong port, or better yet, plugged in backwards.

I saw one that was plugged in upside down and that was an easy fix.

My biggest problem with this machine is that while going through boot diagnostics, the force feedback calibration provides an error. Both motors work, and move the joystick everywhere, pots replaced, accuracy dead on, however it never passes test, so it is disabled. Sucks, wish I could figure it out.

Cheers,
