Hello All,

Recently moved into a new house and as part of the move decided to let go of one of my favorite games Star Wars Trilogy Arcade (upright) to a very nice KLOVer so I know it went to a good home.

So with that said....new house, soon to be new finished basement with a little more space then anticipated and with the recent SWT DLX for sale in the "For Sale" Section got me itching for trying to locate another SWT, but this time was thinking DLX.

However what I want to do may not even be feasible. Basically these are monsters and with all the issues people seem to have with the 50" monitor/projection portion I was hoping to bypass it all together. Concept is simple:
Keep the Seat and Control/Speaker Panel and mount a LCD/LED flat panel on the wall and fab up an enclosure for the game boards.

Sounds crazy I'm sure and I was just hoping to float the concept out there to anyone, especially all you SWT DLX owners out there.

Please let me know thoughts, thanks.

The monitors for the Star Wars DLX is medium resolution. You can use a GBS-8220 (from memory) which will allow you to sync the video to a standard VGA out. I have done this in the past and I currently have the converters working on a pair of Daytona USAs (same Medium resolution monitor) I have had running for the last 6 months without issues. Conversions always cost you in quality, but I feel the Daytona USAs turned out as well as could be expected.

If you are going to get a DLX, try and look for one that has the force feedback joystick. Some of the DLX cabinets have it...while others do not. I am not sure the reason why (conversions of other games or high failures???). When I had mine, I could have sworn it was a dedicated cabinet, but when I took it apart, many of the parts were labeled as Ocean Hunter internally.

Thanks
Brian

Another RPTV bites the dust?
Shame. The re-tubed ones look incredible.
Instead, another up-scaled, distorted game coming soon.

I tried to get some help with my Star Wars for years without assistance..... and the costs for the repairs were insane. As a result, I no longer have the game. Star Wars Trilogy suffer from horrific burn in as well on the RPTVs. If you have a howto for the repairs and are able to share with the rest of us.... it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to save the RPTV if possible since I still have a few up and running at home.

I was looking into doing this before I got a LX, wonder who I got it from? But the only issue was where the game boards were, if the were in the seat part or the monitor part, if it's the latter you'll have to keep the bottom part of the monitor setup then as well.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, much appreciated. Trust me if I could fit the whole massive set up in my basement with the RPTV I would but I can't. With that said I have successfully did a LCD conversion on my Rush the Rock pair and i think it looks great.
After looking for so long to find my upright, I had opportunity to purchase DLX w/ bad RPTV's for good price.

I will say though, the boards are in the monitor part and would try and take them out and rewire.

So if anyone has or knows of the DLX w/ force feedback for sale (besides one currently in Iowa on forum) please let me know.
