So after about 3 weeks of fighting with the WG6100 I Finally got my SW up and running. The board has a small text vector issue that I know I read about somewhere...it's quite possible that I've read every SW and 6100 post on this board to get the monitor back.

Anyway I've attached a pic of the issue. It seems to be only a text issue as I can't see the problem elsewhere...

Here's what I've done...

Board PCB in is at 5.20V

Monitor at 180V and 25V

NO EMI (I think..hardness plugged directly into the board)

Big Blue replaces

Edge connectors cleaned at both ends

Confirmed the same problem with another HV and Deflection board.

Adjusted the monitor as per the FAQ and did notice a very slight vector draw problem on the cross hatch screen. The very bottom line at the end point up at about 45 degrees. (I should have probably took a pic). If you can picture the bottom line i the cross hatch and the bottom right 'box' just after where the box touches the bottom line it turns up at about 45 degrees and does make contact with the outer vertical line

I do have another SW board from my cockpit game that has a couple bad RAMS thus I 'May' have some socketed part to swap

I also remember (I think) that this was an AVG issue but I simply can not find that information again.

Damn it felt good to finally play a game again!

Input very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Edit to add goofy hand drawing of the cross hatch screen

The only time I've seen something very similar to this was on an AMP deflection board. Turned out to be cold solder joints on several resistors.

If you have another vector monitor to test it with I would do that first.

If not, I would go over all components on your 6100 and check for cold solder joints, or loose parts.

I did try anther deflection and neck board...my other HV is down until I get the flyback in from Bob Roberts.

I did not reflow any resistors on the 6100s but i did spend quite a bit of time inspecting them

I read a post here from a while ago that someone and almost the same issue and the had a cold solder joint on a ceramic cap in the AVG board. I'm going over that tonight..maybe I'll get luck

Not sure... but mine does something similar... and the only way I can make the C in CREDITS and the P in PULL actually look right is if I adjust the vertical "size" small enough that the letters come together. I am not sure why it happens, but I am 100% certain it's not a monitor issue as it happens on two different monitors.

It's not a huge deal for me as it looks great when the screen is filled about 85% or so... and I'm not too anal about the other 15%...

Actually my vertical is set a little tall.

Definitely worth a shot when I get home

Thanks!

I've seen a post on this either here or on the vectorlist. As I recall it ended up being a prom issue. I'll see if I can find the post.

Holy cow...

Talk about over analyzing the problem...or lack there of.

I never realize the 'wave' was half off the screen...

Make the picture 'shorter' fixed the problem!

Thanks!
