Folks,

Looking at purchasing a Star Wars game. I performed a self-test on the machine and when I got to the Crosshatch Pattern Display nothing was visible. If you were purchasing this machine would this concern you? I also noticed that the colors of the game seemed to be off. Everything appeared to be more blue than I remember. Wasn't the green and reds I expected.

Would this concern you? I have no experience with Star Wars so any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kent

Probably just need to adjust the pots on the deflection.

Thanks. What would you think is an average price for an upright Star Wars that is in good shape? All original on the inside. Not sure of the monitor type. All artwork including the sides are in good shape.

Thanks,
Kent

Tony seems to have experienced a similar problem. He required the use of a rejuvenator.

So again the problems were

1. Crosshatch pattern not visible
2. Colors all blue versus red, green, and yellow
3. Raster display was not rectangle

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Kent

Isn't the cross hatch red? Check the red color pots if that is the case. Most likely that would be an easy fix if you are up for testing transistors and tracing down the problem.

If you have to buy it in this condition I would at least get a couple hundred deducted from the price. You may have a board issue but I would bet just deflection pots or transistors.

I would knock him down on price saying something is wrong and take a chance.. Its probably just the pots out of adjustment.
I think every raster test on vectors I have seen are like that and not square. Manual shows it square but I have not seen it that way and mine is fine..

How is the diamond screen ? If that's off too, there's a good chance that you only need to adjust the BIP pots on the vector board. Very easy.

Guys, guys, know your Star Wars. You can cycle colors in the cross-hatch and raster screen (and I think in a number of other screens too) by pressing one of the fire buttons....
I'm currently working on a SW that has a fire-button stuck, so it goes through the colors in the test-mode.

BTW, an Amplifone makes it worth a lot more I guess.

Yeah it was off. Don't remember if I tried to cycle the colors by pushing the fire buttons.

I appreciate everybody's feedback.

Thanks,
Kent
