I have one of those "doubled" PCs running both games - or trying to...

An Ampliphone with all of the updates and "beef-ups" is recommended, but we don't have anything other than 6100s to use with it. Tried most of the recommendations in the 6100/Tempest Guide to no avail. This board burns out one of these monitors within ten minutes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Also if one of you guys have a 19inch Amp monitor for sale let me know

Nothing beats the original set up. Put it back to stock with an original boardset. That is what your machine is trying to tell you by burning up the monitors...

and if you must have both...then multi kit the board!

WTH is a "doubled PC" setup in a Star Wars? Are you saying you are porting regular video output from a PC to a Vector monitor?

No - no other account. Dale decided to copy my posting to another sub-forum because he didn't think the one I posted to had enough activity.

And it's not two separate boards. It's the board with both ROM sets and a switch to activate one set or the other. You buy 'em completed on-line download instructions for the conversion. The kit highly recommends one of the updated Ampliphones with the diodes and resistor mods to "bulletproof" the thing.

I'm beginning to suspect that may be the case, as I've rebuilt three 6100s and a 6101 with the low-voltage mod, etc. and had each of them blown out. A couple of them twice. And I made the mistake of performing the Brady Mod to one of them only to have the TUBE arc out. NONE of the troubleshooting guides like the monitor FAQ maintained here have provided any relief.

They just seem overdriven to the point of failure, and that point is but about two steps down the road...

Have you measured the AC output of the x and y out? Shouldn't be more than 3-4Vac. If you have higher, then yeah you are definitely over driving the 6100. But you would think it would blow the fuses first.. Hmm..

The only real difference between a single, and a multi is the rom set. The video out section and voltages should remain the same.

Has the monitor been tested with any other vector game?

If your cabinet is anything like mine a simple computer of about 4" directed at the monitor from the bottom for the game should help. There is a lot of heat in there and a small fan will help the monitor dissipate the heat that it generates.

Did you rebuild the HV cage? Generally if those arent right, the Q101 or Q100 will burn up. I suspect with normal usage the reliability difference between an Amp and a WG is probably negliable. If its blowing up that quick something is very wrong either in both monitors or your boardset.
