Didn't hear a pop/crash/bang/fssssss or anything. It was working fine yesterday then nada.

Probably blew and I just didn't hear it. Come to think of it. There is no sound either. I had ordered a big blue cap from Bob Roberts due to a hum so maybe the old girl finally gave up the ghost....

No neck glow etc... I am assuming flyback, and now possibly, big blue. Any other ideas?

I even had the cap kit on the way from Bob Roberts. Now I gotta get a flyback too.....

BTW It's a WG 6100

Ok, I think I have a beginning... Great resource, thank you.

I think it is the spot killer. The red LED at the lower right is on. In reading the manual, it seems a good place to start. Wonder why it died "all the sudden" (Ok, not so sudden for a game that is as old as I am)

The manual suggested turning the brightness and all it did was show a very bright red dot in the center of the screen. Decreasing the brightness showed it white before fading out again.

Now, I just have to troubleshoot untill i find out what is bad.

Thank you for the quick reply. If you have any other ideas to help me fix the problem, please let me know.

First, find out if it will play blind. If not, then that's why your spot killer is on.

If you can hear it playing, then check the fuses (all four) on the deflection board first, then check the corner of the deflection board on the front left (opposite the corner with the light) for any burnt resistors...

No playing blind.

No sound, hum etc. Tried to add credits to get to the "red five standing by" part just to hear it, but no go.

I will take a better look at the board after work tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help.

No sound _and_ no picture = game not running. The spot killer is on because there's no video signal coming from the PCB, don't mess with the monitor settings in that case.

There could be a power supply problem (+5v, AR-2) on the game PCB.
Check all voltages on the test pins on the game PCB set, esp. the +5V.

Are any of the red leds on the main pcb lit up ? Also, check under the transformer assembly and make sure if there are slip on connectors on the bridge rectifier, they are tight.

Got it fixed! Thanks for the great help.

It is so good to have such knowledgeable folks here.

I had already ordered a PS rebuild kit from Bob Roberts and when I removed the block, I noticed one of the fuses was actually blown that I did not notice before. I went ahead and replaced all the items from kit and it was up and running fine in no time.

And... replacing the big blue did kill the hummmmmm.

Thanks again to all who replied. I hope this thread will help someone else in the future.
