Wasn't someone selling Star Wars Marquee frames? I need one now... I knocked my freshly cleaned one off my freakin' work bench and it's now busted in to 4 pieces.

:(

Any suggestions? The damn thing is broken at the 4 corners of the "frame" piece of particle wood... I don't think glue would suffice for all 4 corners though with the marquee in place it may be OK... what do you guys think?

Frizz... I had the pleasure of doing that to my fucking Turbo sub marquee which uses the star wars frame as well. It was right before I left for CAX a year or two ago. Those are not impossible to fix but you'll need wood clamps and a lot of patience.

Unfortunately, the wood is crappy ass particle so even with a bunch of yellow wood glue, it will hold but never be the same again because that shit crumbles worse than blue cheese.

If you find someone who makes these, i'd love to know so I can replace my turbo sub frame too.

I feel your pain mang.

You can glue it with a little patience..I had one break..just do the top or bottom then the other end...to hard to try to glue all four sides at once.

Brett does repro them..so you could just have nice new one made but they are repairable and once the overlay is installed you aren't going to see it anyway.

Personally, I would buy the new one. DPtwiz makes them out of ply instead of particle board.

Holy shit! While I appreciate the work involved, I just personally can't justify the asking price.

Anyone have a used one they wanna sell? PM me... otherwise I'm rebuilding this bad boy. Perhaps I can carve out the current particle board and repro just the frame part... doesn't look too hard with the right tools (router, saw).

If you're good at working with wood and have the tools already, I can certainly understand your opinion.

For someone who lacks the tools, woodworking knowledge and experience this is a fantastic price and a steal of a deal.

they take the cnc, the tablesaw, the router table, and a shitload of sanding to make the big roundover on the top, i have about 6 hours total in making 5 of these at a time. If you have a tablesaw Frizz, go get one of those 2'X4' repair panels of 3/4 ply at home depot, and remake the frame part and reuse the top piece, it won't break after that!

That is likely what I will be doing.... I already have a 3/4" piece of MDF... I may go that route since I already have it sitting here... but for strength maybe the ply is the way to go.

BTW - I certainly didn't intend to insult you/your price at all... just for "me" I can't justify the cost. If my frame was completely missing, perhaps my opinion would be different however...

How much should it cost ?

Frizz saying he could not justify the cost could simply mean his wallet may not allow him to justify it right now.

I just bought a coin panel from Brett. Fairly priced? You bet. A year ago...no way I could have justified it.

Come to think of it..if there is a chance of a cheap fix I can see that as not justifying the cost since there is a fair chance to salvage for little of nothing.

Now...if the situation changes a bit then the asking price (by far fair in my opinion) may be easily justifiable.

Well, I've seen used ones sold for $20-$25... I'd have pulled the trigger at $40.00 shipped... anything over that and I'm considering the opinions I have with the broken one I have here.

I am sure it would cost in the neighborhood of $12-15 to ship it which means you would expect him to do all that work for around $25. No one in their right mind would do all that work and ship it for $40, and no one in their right mind would expect it either.

Since FF doesn't expect it, what's your point? I have a hard time paying people to fix stuff that I can fix myself. That doesn't mean they are overpriced, just that I don't want to spend that much to get it done.

Stop being a dick Dave.

glue it and get some flat L shaped brackets to help hold it together. should be fine once it is safely back on the cab.

Good idea on the L-shaped brackets. That should keep it in place while I install the overlay. Once the overlay is in place it should hold together nicely.

It's the "Holy shit" comment that got me, as if he was way over priced. Sorry, but I am just tired of people on here wanting guys to bust their asses repairing, making and selling things for
next to nothing. You don't want to pay the price, no problem, but no need to make him feel bad for what he is charging to the point where he starts to explaining what all goes into it. He should be charging a lot more to make it worth his time.
