I'm planning on helping a friend out on this, the Amp has been removed and a rebuilt 6100 is going into it's place, so I've been doing my research on the swap to make sure everything goes smooth and am looking for help and advice.

What exactly will I need to know to make this swap happen, given that the game has never had a 6100 in it?

I know I can do it, but upon doing some research there appear to be a few snags that I need to know how to deal with... Please provide any input or help, it would be greatly appreciated!

first, I've always worked on 6100's that already had been installed in a SW, and upon research there appears to be clearance issues with getting a 6100 into a SW cab because of the frame of the 6100 is attached to the monitor, unlike an AMP. What exactly will need to be done to get the 6100 into the cab and mounted properly? From my research, after the AMP is removed there is a metal frame bracket that goes around the opening from behind that would need to be removed.. or is this incorrect? And how do I get the 6100 to go into the opening, and bolted down correctly?

Also, is there any harness issues or will the harness directly hook up? The only issue that I was aware of was just getting an extension harness, as the stock harness would be too short. Another guy I was talking to that has some X-Y knowledge advised that there may be a different pin-out going from a AMP to a 6100, but further research leads me to believe this is incorrect.

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!! I am driving across the state to do this, so I kind of need to know what exactly will need to be done so we can get it set up and playing before I leave (hoping that I can do this for him!).

Thanks in advance!!

my sw came with a 6100 Modification

I just replaced my 6100 With another one. It appears no woodwork or cutting was done to fit the different monitor. I snapped some pictures. The harness is short. Where do you get an extension? I enclosed pics of my cab. Where are you doing the installation at? I am in savannah.

In my experience, you can easily install the 6100 from the front. You have to be careful of the neck, but it will fit no problem. I like to have someone on the other side to guide it as I move it in. You can remove the 6100 socket from the frame to connect to the harness. I have seen SW games where it is a very close fit and others where there is some slack with no extension.

Pictures of wells that just dropped right in from the front.

You may need a jig saw to cut the wood to allow a little bit of clearance for the frame. Don't go crazy with the saw. Pull the connector from the metal tang on the 6100 frame and let it dangle so that it will reach the SW harness.
