Hi everyone, I have a question about my new Star Wars. The game plays great , no known play issues but it fails the first self test with a "VGRAM4 AT4M". Im hoping its just a bad chip but Im real green at this point with vector games. Is it hurting anything if I just play it as is?
Thanks Jason!

I dont think it will hurt anything to keep playing it, but maybe in later stages the bad RAM section will make the game look funny - the truth is: Who knows. If it appears to work for you, leave it alone.

Just a guess, but i'm thinking the error means Vector Graphics RAM at location 4M. So if its a socketed chip, you should be able to replace it easily.

Sweet! it looks to be socketed according to the manual. It calls for a 137211-001 150 ns tri state static ram integrated circuit anybody have one of these I can buy?
Thanks Jason

From what I can tell, it looks like you can use a 6116 RAM chip. It has the same pin assignments based on the datasheet. I know Bob Roberts has them, in both regular (the size of an eprom) and slimline (the same width as a 7400 chip) packages.

Anyone have info to confirm??

Thanks you guys! Can't stress enough how grateful I am for everything you guys have helped me with.

Yes A2K Bob has both the 3mm and 6mm versions available.

It's a 2016 / 6116, and it's socketed... You should be back up and running for a couple bucks.

You need the big version. The 5116 is compatible with the 2016 and 6116.

The error will have different results depending on what position the bad chip is. I've seen it run fine until I got at the trench level with the side/side blocks. Picture became screwed up then.

The 2nd time the game was fine in attract mode and crashed when I started a game.

By the way, can you please post the brand of the current VGRAMs ? I wonder it it was a bad brand/serie that goes bad. My originaly had Toshiba in them. The one's I got from arcadechips.com are from Sharp.
