Hi guys just got my project a rough sit down arcade..needs a rebuild.
It was covered in dirt/leaves inside and upon cleaning are now finding the problems.

So far have got the PSU up and running...although looking for chart on correct Voltage outputs.

Have got the sound board to "may the force be with you" "always" on coin drop.
Red 5 standing by on fire..

SO: looks like problems are(many):

1.No actual start game play
2.No HV..hear high pitch static but no clicking(firing) no graphics on tube.
3.Tube looks like 2 burn holes mid center.

Need all the help I can get ... any suggestions very welcome.
or if there are threads available.

Kind regards!

Monitor back reads:

Rauland Zenith radio corp A63AAXOOX

Connector reads:
Triad UTRAD LITTON 9A2806001D

Cards are;

Amplifone Deflection A201014 (LED on but flickers) update now off!!!

Amplifone HIGH VOLTAGE A201012 ...no LED no burst clicking heard.

TISH TISH! you know you should share your toys!!
Now clean up your room and help your younger brother fix his game!!!

Great post by the way...looking for technical info to look out for get that clicking sound back!!!

It uses an ARII (page 5-30) of the manual. You can start there. However, the main board (page 5-33) should have test points that are plainly marked on the board and it is a better place to test the board's power.

Yes, that is the right manual. The pic isn't very good but you can use the pic to identify the board in your machine and the test points are clearly marked on the board. The ARII board has the adjustment pot(s) for the power.

pulled out of cage and tested on fluke 77 test meter

Red led is on.

+5v2 good
+5v1 good
+15v (14.81 stable) good
-15v (14.85 stable) good
+12v (11.76v stable) good

what else is there to check on this board?

on the other side..A038461

+5vdc good

but

+10.3VUN was on the high side 11.64v

Have noted that the LED is completely out on the deflection board.
LOOKS LIKE F3 5A fuse has burnt out on this board..

more checks on amplifone card

Voltage shown:

+24.50v at Vr1 #3 GOOD
+33v and then to over load? (sounds like a problem) at Vr1 #1 BAD?
-33v at VR2 #2 GOOD
-23v at VR2 #3 GOOD

Check to see what flyback is used on the HV board. If it is red -- most likely it will be bad and need to be replaced the the Cinelabs version. A "dead red" is a common failure point of the original Amplifone boards.

I'd start by rebuilding the Amplifone boards. New fly, caps, etc. Lots of information out there for rebuiling them... or send them to someone to fix.

Once you know you have good & working Amp boards, you will then be able to see what is on the screen (if anything). I am suspecting there will be since you have the coin up voice and the game start selection of "red 5 standing by".

You can also flip the test switch inside the coin door and listen for the beep sequence. You will hear a series of 16 beeps. A higher pitch tone means that test is good. A lower tone indicates a faulty RAM/ROM. Depending upon which number tone it is, will tell you were to start looking. These tones will keep repeating indefinitely.

Check out the manuals and troubleshooting guide loacated here:

Hope this helps.

Got the 16 bleeps.. short pause and then 16 ..looks good.

I have a black Hv unit with what looks to be a red cap next to it.
I did post however there are 2 big burnt holes in the screen center,
But alas no clicking sound!!

.............
Ok let you guys into my scared tactic....

I have an upright at home...fitted with empire etc...runs perfect.
Do i??????

Test the main boards in this unit???
Do i run the risk of burning anything out of this unit???

in terms of flyback and the screen what is the probable card at fault...rather than send all away..
Sound board seems to be fine and I think im getting the voltages on the main board...so is it the HV or the regulator board?

As you can tell ..I am a newbie so go gentle!!!

Wealth of info here thank you!!!!

Amplifone hv a201012

I have followed some of the recommendations and have re-soldered the connections.

This board looks like it has been modified with caps on the underside.

Submitted some photos...

looks like the CRT HRT BRN has been cut , shown in photo and then re-soldered to a mod at the bottom of cabinet...it says 600v on cable (cable rating)...what Voltage should this be getting?
I see the end of the tube with a slight orange glow..but once again no clicking.

Thanks again.

the mod in picture 3 has a transformer and rectifier and is out puting 3.8Vdc to the brown wires twisted pair to the tube.

R12 checked out at 2.2kohm but R18 is missing and looks like it was never soldered into the board.
