Star Wars Cockpit - Have You Seen This Issue Before?

Hi.

I've been working on a Star Wars Cockpit game that has me scratching my head. Instead of trying to type what the issue is, I made a video of it. Please point your browser to the link listed below.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking!

My guess is you may not be getting +5V to the game pcb. And as it heats up, the voltage drops further. When this happens, the game pcb does not creat vectors so the spot killer comes on to protect the monitor.

Check the supplies on the test points of the game PCB. If the voltages are below spec, go back and check the voltage on the AR2 pcb. If the voltage is not good on the AR2, this is most likely your problem. If the AR2 checks out fine, go back to the game pcb and check to make sure you have good connection on the edge connector. Look for burnt pins. You can clean the edge traces with an eraser.

Have you reseated all your chips yet?
Hi.

Thank you all for your assistance. I'm going to rebuild the Audio/Power Supply Board, and reseat all the IC's.

I'll keep you posted. :)

Did you know you can clean contacts (IE Edge Connectors) with Currency? A dollar bill does a wonderful job cleaning contacts without eraser residue.

So does it pass the self tests when the switch is flipped inside the coin door?
Hi.

It does pass the self tests, but only before the Spot Killer comes on.

The voltage theory makes sense. I'll be sure to reseat the IC's, then do the voltage tests before I attempt to rebuild the AR2 PCA.

Thanks again for all of your help!
