I might be picking up an original today. Anything I should ask or check for when I go to take a look at it?

Awesome..
Can I rest the cab on its back for transport?
if everything is bolted in and bolted down. CHECK FIRST.. many a game has been broken this way.
good point.... this will be an adventure... if all goes well I will post pics this evening.
Someday I'd like to see an ampliphone in action on one of these. Mine has a 6100 (never seen an amp in anything actually).Congrats on what will hopefully be your first (of many) pick-ups. The main things collectors look for on Star Wars machines is the type of monitor, originally they came with an Amplifone which looks like a bare tube with the boards mounted to the sides of the cabinet.
Often those were replaced with a 6100 which has a box-like metal frame structure around it, and a perforated metal box cover over the high voltage unit.
The Amplifone is the better of the two units for a couple of technical reasons, and will command a higher price among collectors.
Other than that, the usual stuff to look for are condition issues like water damage, broken edges, graffiti, etc. Be sure to post pictures of your haul here!
Honestly... the Amp is over rated. Sure... it's nice to have... and yeah, I'd rather have one, but the visuals really aren't that much different. Unless you had a SW with an amp next to an SW with a 6100... 99% of the people out there wouldn't know the difference.

make sure its not a chair.
Where you able to pickup the Star Wars? Pictures! I hope all went well!
