Star Wars Arcade cockpit machine moving advice

They got what they wanted, and paid what they were comfortable with.... nothing else matters, really.

I can't understand why somebody would pay $50,000 for a car. To each their own.

Congratulations on the purchase!

No shit. There are plenty of people on here with car payments that will pay 7k in interest for a car that will be worth half of what they purchased it for if they are lucky. At least for 7k he got something.

He wont lose more than 5k if he decides to sell it. Most people can't say that about the cars they are driving.

Congrats.

Lol, don't worry I came in eyes open I knew there were cheaper machines out there, but I kinda wanted one with a history that was mint.
The problem in New Zealand is that there are almost no star wars arcade machines.
I remember seeing one cockpit one 27 years ago or so, and one ratty standup 15 years ago.
BTW does anyone know more of a history on it?
Jim Davis p/a said it was a freeby from Atari during contract negotiations.

Looks like you saved $3K on your cockpit! I saw that on ebay for a while and I think he was asking $10K and I thought that was frekin crazy! Cograts on your pickup and welcome to the club!

Yea, Dale always said he wasn't on there to sell it. I see that his moving cockpit version is down to $6800 (down from $25000).

Mdawson,

Awesome pick up. I drooled over those photos while it lasted on Ebay. I have a Star wars upright amongst other "a listers" and, by and far, Star wars is the gem of the lineup.

Now, most of my memories are in the sit down version - nothing beats that experience.

I think you got it for a fair price - how you can you replace that game and when is the next time you will ever come across one (without it being taken before you can get there, its so in demand with little to no supply). Best of luck with it, and please post pics when it gets there. Thanks.

Sweet! You may never see one in that sort of condition again. I think it was Socrates who said "I never regreted the video games I bought, I only regretted the ones I didn't".

I saved those pictures for reference!

Back on topic, I don't expect you'll be interested considering the price you paid, but I cut my $400 cockpit in half. The trick is to do it in such a way that it's undetectable when reassembled and just as strong structurally. Fortunately for me I succeeded in both those areas. It's a little bit of a PITA initially but once done it can be disassembled/reassembled again for future moves in under an hour. If you're interested I have a ton of pics of the process and maybe even an old tutorial I wrote up for someone else that did it awhile back. Just PM me.

Yes, thanks to Mr. Bones3010, I did the same thing.

You can see some pictures here. It is really not noticeable unless you flip it over and take off the baseplate:

LOL. Pictures make it look better than it is. If it makes you feel any better, I am having a hell of a time getting my 25" monitor converged.

Yeah, well that 25" monitor is a whole other issue altogether considering I have the 19"!

Of course, I console myself when playing when I wonder how that 25" looks in reality considering my 19" is pretty much to the edges of the shroud... Wassupwitdat? Does the 25" extend beyond that (it must)?

That machine is SWEET! Congrats!

But since you can afford such a nice arcade game maybe you should buy a nice house to put it in. ;)

Hopefully there are no stairs or narrow hallways in your apartment building.
