So I picked up a Star Wars today in semi working order with monitor issues (see images below).
The game seems to work fine, and the monitor is pretty bright and clean, just the lines are all wavy and jittery.
Did a quick search on the forums and from what I read on a couple of threads, it sound like the deflection board needs to be re-capped.
Any input as to anything else I should be checking or replacing before I start?

One question, do you by chance have it next to the Paperboy I sold you? For whatever reason my Black Widow which has an amplifone in it would go crazy when it was next to that Paperboy, the screen would go all weird. It was the only machine I had affected that way, so I'd have to keep the two at least a foot apart.

Nope, its in the garage for the time being until its fixed.
The garage is the limbo area for games that need something fixed before they come in the house.
This one will not be in the garage long :)
I bought it today from a pinball guys, knowing that it had this problem.

BTW, paperboy is my 7 year old daughters new favorite game.

Cool man thank, just ordered it on your site.
I actually bought a couple of cap kits from you a little while ago for other games.
Thanks again
Kent

thanks again kent and it will go out in the morning.

Its going to be a while longer. :)
The wife gave me the godhead to move the couch out of the game room.

for the sake of seeing if thats coming from the deflection board or the game board do you have another game you can plug into that monitor? Could be either, most likely deflection board.

May even try turning up the screen brightness until you get re trace lines. If the re trace lines are jaggy its the deflection board for sure.

I'm don't think that I have any other boards that will work in this. The only other Atari Vector I have is Asteroids.
Attached are a few more images of whats going on.

Ok, so on another note, I just pulled the board out of this thing and got an interesting surprise.
Someone went and put a Vector-labs kit in it.
http://www.vector-labs.com/index_swesb.html

How exactly does this thing work?
I was just looking on their it says to press the left thumb button then right thumb button on control yoke.
I did this a couple times and it didn't seem to do anything and all the buttons are working.
Anyone have this that can give me a little insight?

Ok, so the Empire Strike Back kit works. :)
Guess I wasn't holding the button long enough.
The bottom of the instal manual say "TO SWITCH TO EMPIRE STRIKES BACK PRESS
LEFT THUMB BUTTON FOR 2 SECONDS RELEASE FOR 1 SEC
AND THEN PRESS RIGHT THUMB BUTTON FOR 2 SECONDS & RELEASE."
Which worked like a charm and switched it over to Empire!
Cant wait to get this thing up and running properly.

I am in the process of fixing my Amplifone in my Star Wars. Just got another new flyback, so hopefully it will be good. If you want to test your boards in my machine, maybe we can narrow it down for you.

Finally got this fixed and dialed in.
A huge thanks to jrok and Arcadenut for their help with this.
I am eternally grateful.
It did turn out to be a deflection boar issue.
Jrok worked his Voodoo on it and got her up and running this past weekend.
You guys are awesome, thank you so much.
