Alot of people seem to hate this title but the kids love star wars and they really want one. Theres one for sale locally for 2000 but does it suck ??

It's not a bad pin. People dislike it because it could have been a hell of a lot better. Your kids will enjoy it. $2K is a good price... a lot of pin for the money.

I found one and put some time in on it and wasn't terribly impressed. I do think it would be a good kids/visitors game due to the theme and rules. I had a choice between Episode 1 and Revenge From Mars and picked RFM. If my kids liked Star Wars(thankfully they don't) I would probably grab one to go with my RFM...

ugh. awful.

there are better pins out there for all that money
but if you have to have one, it's not too bad and the price is good

had a buddy that picked up a mint one for 3300 including shipping from Colorado
very nice machine. i think he overpaid but he had to have it and then sold it for 2 grand in the divorce ! then he bought a real nice ADDAMS FAMILY for 4500 !
i guess its good to have some people overpay...

could do without the TV obscuring the top 1/3rd of the playfield but it was fun to see all the star wars stuff

I really don't understand this complaint.... There is nothing blocked by the video that needs to be seen. The only thing behind there is a loop which connects the C3P0 rollover on the left (completely visible) with the Gungan pop bumpers on the right. I suppose the ball is not easy to follow when in the pops, but that is no fault of the video display.

I was planning on buying one. Spent about an hour playing one and this game IMHo is a major yawn fest. It sucks because I love Star Wars but wow did they miss the mark on this game.
The only cool part is that you can swap Revenge From Mars in the cabinet and have two different games when ever you want to swap.

Even at $2K - there's a hell of a lot better pins out there for $2K.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. You really need to just play it and decide for yourself.

I think that for most Star Wars fans, Episode 1 (the movie) is a bit of a disappointment to begin with... so the pinball has a considerable handicap to start. And remember that the game had to be all developed and ready to go before anyone saw the movie. If they could have adjusted the game based on audience reaction to the film, I think you'd see more Maul and less Jar Jar, of course.
When you first play the game you are inundated with too much of that blithering Gungan, and that turns most people off. If you manage to get beyond that, you'll find some cool stuff in there. There are 13 different modes to the game, and I enjoy playing at least 7 of them. The others just seem like filler, and I usually just crank through them. I've owned the game for over two years now, and I just made Jedi Spirit (completing all modes and saber-battles in one game) last night. I hadn't really played the game all that often... so I decided to play it daily until I finally reached Jedi Spirit. That took about a week (playing a few games a night). Learned quite a few scoring tricks in the process too. I think I enjoy the game much more now (although some goals can be very frustrating!). My son played with me too (he still enjoys the game, and whenever he has friends over they all want to play it), and his game improved a lot just by watching and learning some strategy.

We have a condo in Vancouver a busy section of Vanvoucer and there is an old arcade down the street, only a block away. In the Arcade they have about 5 pins and 1 of them is the Star Wars 2000 pin.

At night when my family is glued to the tv i run down there and play for a few hours. I usually play their Crazy Taxi and Adams Fam pin but started to play the SW Pin 2000 and i hated it (at 1st). I played it a few more times started to figure out the game play and now i really enjoy it.

I agree with Matt it could have been a much better pin but i do enjoy it now and the more i play it the more i like it. So much so that when Tom here was selling his RFM i picked that up from him. RFM is awesome, i love it but i am a Video Game guy more than a Pinball guy.

Also beaware i am not in the norm on this most "Pin" guys the more they play SW Pin 2000 or RFM the more they get bored of it and hate it or dislike the pin.

Find a place to Play the pin a few times, go away come back and see. I can't wait to go back to Vancouver so i can go and play that SW pin 2000 again, no Arcades where i live full time :(

My issue with it, besides fricking jar jar binks, is that its soooo dark for some reason. Maybe some ultra bright GI LEDS would help...

I think the lighting and light shows are pretty well done. There are a couple dark places (I don't think the spotlights on Watto and JJB are designed all that well). Got to be careful where and how much you brighten things up... you don't want to ruin the video effect. I recently saw some pics of a SWE1 that someone totally blinged out with LEDs... holy shit did that look like ass!

IMO Star Wars Episode 1 is a bland pin. It's bad enough that the playfield looks sparse enough, and every video mode is just the same 3 shots over and over on the screen, there's next to no variation.

Nice looking game, art style and direction is great, but the gameplay itself is a big flop.

I like the game, but I like Popadiuk's designs.

I think for what they had to work with, it's a good machine. You can usually get one for a decent price.

Do NOT get a Star Wars Episode 1 and expect to buy an RFM kit to put in it. To get those components is VERY difficult. Buy an RFM and you can still find Star Wars kits NIB for around $1000.

It will most likely be a hard resell if you do get it. I enjoy the game, but I am in the minoriry it seems :)

It's not good for the money. In other words, for the price they go for, you can get your choice of about 20 or so games that are just as good/better. Chips4sale has been dying to unload the one he has for months, now.

I have an RFM, but never played SW. I enjoy the pin2k platform, but for me, it might not be a great choice if you only have one pin.

All that matters is do you like it? If so, that is a good price.

i love to follow the ball with my eyes. thats my favorite part of playing pinball

some of the newer pins where the ball goes below and pops up over there is fine. many examples are available

that SWE1 seems as though almost EVERY shot, i lose sight of it and have no idea where its going to come back at me. just not for me i guess. after all, some of my favorite pins are the Gottlieb System 1 machines, so i'm biased

+1 Summed up my views on this perfectly. Besides that, just a total crapfest.
