Heres some pics I took. Im sure the monitor is ok judging by the first pic. Im just wondering where to start. Theres a complete board and hard drive set on ebay for 400, and Id rather find what I need than buy a whole set for 400, because Ill part mine before i drop that much coin.

The first pic Ive only got that screen twice. Usually its the second one.

Wow, I saw your other post where you got the game for a buck. I thought I got a deal on mine but one dollar that's a great find. Looking at your pictures I agree theirs nothing wrong with your monitor. It looks better than mine but I am getting ready to re cap it so mine should be ok I hope. Mine is currently working so I took a video of the boot up so you can see what it's supposed to look like.

If I had to guess I would say your hard drive might be the problem but that's just a guess. You might try giving it a tap or reposition it just to see if it might jaw something loose and get it started, you never know. If it is the hard drive I have seen them pop up on Ebay a lot cheaper than the $400.00 complete set on Ebay but that's still not a bad deal for a working board set and it never hurts to have a spare board set if the game is a keeper.
Their is one other thing I can think of. The main board is an IBM mother board and has a battery on the board, I assume to save the COSMO setup and if the battery was dead and it lost it's settings it might not recognize the hard drive. I have heard of people hooking up a computer monitor and keyboard to record the settings for when the battery dies. Their is also a battery on the MEGA Jamma board that can go bad and Team play has the info on their web site for how to reset the BIOS

It is a big game and takes up a lot of room but if your a Star Trek fan like me you have to find the room.
Good luck, hope you get it running.

Is this a PC based game with a JAMMA adapter plugged into it?

I've seen the first screen before with Police Trainer 2 when there were problems with the JAMMA adapter board that plugged into the parallel port of the PC. One had a corrupt CMOS thanks to a dead battery and the other had burned traces on the JAMMA adapter. They were booting to a Linux desktop of some kind since they couldn't read the security chip.

Both were fixable. The CMOS settings needed to be reset manually as the system's default parallel port setting wasn't compatible with the game.

Yes it's a PC based game with the MEGA Jamma board pluged into it.

Hook a keyboard and VGA monitor up to it and you'll find that squiggly stuff is a boot screen.

These are from my notes from the PT2 board:

Replace the CMOS battery and configure the CMOS settings are as follows:

Standard:
Drive A: NONE (default is 3.5" 1.44Mb)
Halt On: NO ERRORS (default is All, But Keyboard)

Advanced:
Anti-Virus Protection: DISABLED (default is enabled)
First Boot Device: HDD-0 (Default is CD-ROM)

Integrated Peripherals:
Onboard Parallel Mode: EPP (default is SPP)

Power Management Setup:
Video Off Option: ALWAYS ON (default is Standby -> Video Off)
State After Power Failure: ON (default is Auto)

Changed battery, reset and changed the bios and getting an IO fatal error 104. My buddy thinks somehow the drivers were erased.

Make sure you set the CMOS correctly... then double check that the board didn't come partially unplugged from the parallel port. After that, rotate the button cell (security chip) in its holder a bit just in case the connection has oxidized.

Awesome! I tried everything you guys suggested and still nothing. On the 'megajamma' board, there are 4 green led lights at the top left. Does the furthest left blink? It does on mine. On the same board theres a little battery and was wondering if you knew anything about it. Mine says 1993, and I cant find any info on the brand or anything. And I was wondering what your dip switch settings were. Theres 2 on the motherboard and 1 on the megajamma. My megajamma are all on, and the left (as youre looking at from the access) has number 1 on, 2 3 4 off, and the right one 3 is on, and 1 2 4 is off.
I posted my reply here so I could add some pictures for ya to look at.
The 4 green LED's on my MEGA JAMMA board from the time I turn the power on have the first 3 from the left to right burn solid and the 4th,last on the right blinks and never changes thought out attract mode. I don't know what the battery on the MEGA JAMMA is fore. The dip switches on the MEGA JAMMA is for monitor resolution and both my cockpit and kit have all 4 dip switches in the up or off position. Not sure what you mean about the motherboard, don't see any dip switches but their are a couple rows with 2 pin jumpers near the battery. I took a picture. Let me know if that is what you are talking about.

Cool good to know about the lights. Wasnt sure if it meant there was an error. The other 2 dips are at the top left, behind the RAM which is behind the processor and fan.
Ok, here's the motherboard dip switches

Evening All,
Been very thankful of all the advice on the Voyager. I've just completed a restore of a cockpit also and with your guidance enerything is working perfectly. One issue is the game displays a :Not Authorized: red screen after VCoyager start graphics and high scores are displayed. Trying a Police Trainer 2 HDD and security button chip PT2 displays and plays perfectly. So it appears the secuitiy chip is either wrong or defective. Is there a bypass or sorce/reprogramming process available?
Thanks

Did you get this figured out? I had the same issue. I took some thin solder, wound it into a coil, then put it under the positive tab on the button chip socket to apply a bit more pressure and make a good connection, and this fixed it right up.

I should mention that I didn't heat the solder, I just used it as a conductive wedge.

So the not authorized screen is due to battery connection? I have one now doing the same thing after finally getting it up and running. Thanks in advance!

That thing on the MegaJamma board that looks like a battery is not a battery but it's a Dallas memory button or security chip. It makes contact just like a button battery and I have heard the contacts will get corroded and sometimes spinning them around in the holder will clean the contacts. I haven't had this problem with mine so far but have heard others have.

Yes I know about the Dallas. I was inquiring about what the other poster was saying about him making better contact with the battery and it fixing the not authorized screen. Thanks though.

I thought the problem was the connection on the security chip. (Looks like a battery). I pulled the chip out and reseated it, with no change. I put a conductive material between the chip and the tab to apply a little more pressure and I thought it solved the problem. Worked great for a couple of days and then had the not authorized screen again at boot up. Ultimately what I noticed was, I consistently get the not authorized screen, but after letting it warm up for about 15 min, I can boot without the error. My brother thinks he has figured out a way to clone the iButton chip to replace the faulty one. I'll see him in a couple of days and get more info.

Awesome, keep me informed if he gets it figured out I'd gladly purchase 2 of them. I'm trying to get it running so I can put it in our arcade we're opening. Thanks for the update!

I'm having a similar issue with the red not authorized screen. I shopped the mega jamma to someone with a working game and it worked fine in their machine. I've checked and double checked my bios settings. Is it possible the parallel port or the main motherboard is dead?
