Please help! My Star Trek Voyager isn't accepting any commands. No start button, no diagnostic menu. Just sits at the screen telling me to press start to play. Would could be causing this?

Dose the game boot up correctly?
Dose it go into attract mode?
Will it coin up a game.
When dose the game lockup?
Below is a video link showing the proper boot up.
Depending on when the game locks up it could be many things.
Bad power supply
Bad hard drive
Bad mother board
Bad connections
Bad security button connection on MutiJamma board (looks like a battery but it's not.
Bad start button
It could be many things. Start with checking power supply voltages and go from their. It's basicly an ATX computer power supply.
Give us some more info and maybe we can help narrow it down.

I'm unable to get the game to play or access the diagnostic menu. Power supply is fine. Shouldn't I be able to bypass the start button or diag button by just briefly shorting it out. I've tried that and it does nothing. The game just continues with attract mode. Also the only sound I get is the "welcome aboard" sound at startup

All of the games input controls,start buttons,coin switches,service switch,left and right speakers are connected though the Jamma harness that plugs into the Mega-Jamma board so make sure the jamma harness is clean and making good connection. You could have a problem with the Mega-Jamma board.

You most likely have a fault on the mega jamma board. Make sure all LEDs on it are lit. If not you have a failure. It's also important to note the mega jamma board uses the printer port so it's possible your motherboard is not working correctly either.

It's an unreliable board using an Xilinx Spartan FPGA for inputs. This FPGA was advertised as a "budget" version of an actual MCU (used in many Sega and Namco games for example). Star Trek Voyager was a budget arcade game anyway but using an FPGA as a pseudo MCU is being a bit too literal.

Correct me if I'm wrong about the reliability of Xilinix Spartan FPGAs. I have yet to discuss this elsewhere.

It appears to be my megajamma board. I currently have a megajamma 100 does anyone know if the megajamma 101 is compatible with this cabinet.?
 
I can tell you it has to be a star trek mega jamma. One from police trainer two or crossfire paintball won't work. Even if you swap the Dallas key.

What happens? Does it say not authorized.? Do the controls not work?

Does anyone have the schematics for this board so that I may repair mine?

From what I am seeing, all three Mega Jamma pcb variants are physically the same. Team Play most likely added protection code to the FPGA to prevent game swapping. I have this crazy idea to patch the protection code so game swapping is possible between all three games but that may never come to be (for obvious reasons).

It doesn't help the main PC and Mega Jamma pcb communicate via a parallel port as opposed to serial.

I did not know their were 2 Megajamma board versions but I do have a working cockpit and a NOS Voyager kit in the box,only opened it to test. My kit has the megajamma 100. Not sure which board is in my cockpit as they put the serial number sticker over top of the board version number. What I can tell you is the cockpit game board will only work on a med resolution monitor wile the kit boards will work on either a med resolution or standard resolution monitor. That might be the different between the Megajamma boards or it could be something in the Dallas memory button.
Their are 2 different mother boards too, a yellow which is in my cockpit and a red which is in the kit.

So I've made a discovery. It would appear that the megajamma will not function unless there is a video signal going through it. For example. I've been testing it with an external monitor attached directly through the video card (because I'm currently repairing my 39k7601. It appears there's nothing wrong with my megajamma. Wish I would've known this before spending the money on purchasing a second megajamma. Also second thing learned. The megajamma for crossfire does work with this motherboard/game as long as you swap the security key. Now I just need to fix my 39k7601 it appears my flyback is toast. (major cracks, swelling) so I've replaced that. Then I tested my HOT and it's shorted out. So I'm currently waiting for a replacement in the mail.

The explanation behind this is some gates through the cpld need to be active. What a relief the CPLD logic on all Mega Jamma pcbs are the same. If you do have the Crossfire Paintball Mega Jamma pcb and tested that with the key switch, then it's not a waste of money. Now I guess to dump that key somehow...
