I'm working on my Star Trek SOS game at the moment and am continually irritated by having to unplug most of the wires leading to the boards because I want to pull out my CPU board.

Is there any way of arranging the boards in the rack such that I can easily pull the CPU board out w/o having to unplug all of the other board's wires?

I'm tempted to put the CPU board in the last slot but it doesn't look like the wires will reach that far.

Thoughts?

Pics of what you got would help but I have put a problem child (pcb) on a board with a hinge that would swing out a bit. Kind of like a cabinet door with pcb attached to the inside of said door. Won't work with a cocktail but like I said, pics would help.

It's just the standard SOS rack system:

Swap that sucker with the eprom card in the last slot and you're good.

Length of the cables is the only thing to stop you.

Yeah, length of the cables is stopping me. There's a little tension on the ones going to the cpu card now.

Card rack PCBs suck. Years ago, I had a Gorf project I was doing and I got sick of dicking with the damn cards.

Not only is it a major PITA unhooking EVERYTHING every time I want to pull the cpu card out, my bus connectors are flaky and the game doesn't work correctly unless I fiddle with how the cards are seated in the slots. Blech!
