The Shatner/Nimoy signed NOS overlay Star Trek kit marquee is still available... price drop and bump.
$300 - SHIPPED FLAT WITH INSURANCE
I believe Nimoy told Karl that he had never signed anything from the Star Trek Arcade other than our pieces.
I know this isn't true... Maybe from a Video Game Arcade perspective... but from a Pinball perpective - no.
I had Shatner and Nimoy sign my DE 25th ST Pinball translite. Infact; it's now autograph complete - as ever living actor has signed the translite including the smaller part actors like Bobby Clark (gorn). The last signature I needed was Nichelle; which I got this January.
Nice peice - would Like to have it myself.
Shatner is 80?!?
Holy crap. The dude looks AWESOME at 80... I figured it was like 65 or so...
I didn't get one word from Shatner... but Nimoy said something to me if I recall. When I had met Nimoy the first time bringing my Bally backglass along, he stated that he had never seen the Bally S.T. pinball backglass and was very impressed at the beautiful artwork and colors. When I had brought a bunch of marquees and two control panels for him to sign (My cockpit and Dan's upright conversion) Nimoy stated that he had never seen or heard of the Star Trek video arcade (at least the marquee & control panel) and thought I was crazy for collecting coin-op.
True story I'm sure. Shat said nothing while I was there getting my translite signed. Actually; he may have asked if it was a pinball art... but my mind isn't recalling if it was shat or nimoy. The translite is def something they don't get often. Even the lines of attendees don't expect it.The first time I met Shatner he also stopped when his robot-signing reached me and my Bally backglass. Shatner started asking me questions about it and commenting about its beauty and couldn't believe how far my Trek was (almost word for word what Nimoy said the Shat re-iterated on his own). I had found out afterwards that Shatner almost never will look up at someone and almost never stops and talks or answers a question... I saw him flat out ignore a couple dozen people asking him a question or wanting a picture. The trekkies were looking at me like a god because I managed to get the great Shat stopped in his tracks to not only look up and talk with me, but was asking questions of me and shooting the shat with me! I also asked Shatner if he'd ever seen a Star Trek backglass or pinball and he said no. I don't remember asking him about the video arcade parts (my cockpit control panel and the marquee for sale).
Zitt! Thats sweet, I couldn't remember who had that 25th ed. Star Trek pinball that had inspired me to try it w/ my Bally backglass! I've since I aquired some bitchin' shit and meeting a bunch of either celebrities involved somehow with arcades and pinball machines. I'll have to PM you so we can shoot the shat and notes on our various machine's unique mods.
YEap - that why I have motion activated web cams... and don't post "checkins" on Facebook... or until AFTER I get home. Luckly the Spousal unit is almost alway home.I realized that I was an idiot and posting HEY I'm leaving for two weeks, here's my collection, here I am 1400 miles from home right this moment.
Would it be goofy or breaking a klov 10th commandment eff-up to build a nice looking marquee box and mount it on top of my cockpit thereby altering its originality?
I was paranoid of this also... So, what I did was bought every brand/type silver & black paint pens and did a couple months worth of studies and tests on pieces of glass, old marquees, plastic, etc. writing which pen I was using, doing lines, sigs, words, then allowing them to dry for periods of time and mess with them trying to smear or smudge, erase and scrape. Finally after I decided on what the best all around pen was all around for the surfaces and I went warp speed on the Star Trek parts. Since that time, I've had a bunch of marquees, artwork and backglasses done by other people and I found an even nicer and more favorite paint pen that does really great all around solid coloring, no streaking, permanent as hell after a few weeks. BUT you have to prep the pen perfectly for the person using it or risk making a huge mess and ruining the piece. Moving a backglass around in a crowd of thousands of people walking a few miles with it in my hands was ALOT of work and stress. When I originally did the Nimoy pieces I had damn near a 3 mile walk while trying to balance 8 or 9 various pieces in my hands/box and was rolling on 48 hours without sleep to make the mission happen.I didn't get one word from Shatner... but Nimoy said something to me if I recall.
I thought about doing the bally 78 but TBH; wasn't sure how to protect the signatures on the glass long term. The thought of crystal clear on both sides of the glass was making me ill.
Am I reading correct or misunderstanding, are you offering to help me build a marquee box so I can keep this marquee and find a use for it on my cockpit? If so I'd be very interested in going that route and will keep the marquee to put it to good use! Seeing your quality of work and attention to detail on your projects is shock and awe. Its not so much laziness or no skills or creativity on my part, but not having time and being burnt out after work and errands that stalls me out on wanting to add more projects onto my list.
