STAR TREK NOS Marquee autographed by both SHATNER (KIRK) and NIMOY! (SPOCK)

The Shatner/Nimoy signed NOS overlay Star Trek kit marquee is still available... price drop and bump.

$300 - SHIPPED FLAT WITH INSURANCE

I've been asked about trades on the Shatner/Nimoy marquee...

I would consider SOME trades, but its got to be something interesting not something I can get at the corner drugstore!

I am looking for Lunar Lander thruster parts, and a LL panel overlay w/ mission panel.

Currently I have no real big projects that need parts, and I'm not trying to take on any random stuff to sit on...

I'm interested in finding a 1967 Williams Apollo pinball, 1962 Williams Friendship 7 pinball and a 1970 Chicago Coin Apollo 14 E.M. arcade - I'd use the marquee as a partial down payment for any of these although I realize that its a pipe dream!! :)

I believe Nimoy told Karl that he had never signed anything from the Star Trek Arcade other than our pieces.

I know this isn't true... Maybe from a Video Game Arcade perspective... but from a Pinball perpective - no.
I had Shatner and Nimoy sign my DE 25th ST Pinball translite. Infact; it's now autograph complete - as ever living actor has signed the translite including the smaller part actors like Bobby Clark (gorn). The last signature I needed was Nichelle; which I got this January.

Nice peice - would Like to have it myself.

The marquee is now available again. $275/shipped flat with insurance, thats my bottom line or it goes back in storage.

I've had 2 people back paddle on closing the deal and the marquee physically would not fit on the third guy's ST conversion machine with a skinny marquee. I think this would be a beautiful wall piece for a sci-fi geek, I would stick it between two thin plexiglass pieces it would be preserved well and look great! I've got enough Shatner & Nimoy memorabilia and don't need to hoard duplicate and redundant parts for no reason but to have them. I'd bet I have 5 upright control panels (not signed) and only own one cockpit machine! Why? :p

NIMOY & SHATNER have both raised their rates to $90 EACH in order to get their John Hancock! Even @ 90/ea they will have a line of 1,000 people waiting to say hi and get a scribble... WOW! In order to get this done nowadays it looks like it would cost:
$90 Shatner + $90 Nimoy + $40 admission to the show + marquee (etc.) + gasoline to an event which could be hundreds or thousands of miles away!! They're charging $220 basically to get in the door and wait in line for 2 hours each person for a 15 second signature... Thinking of it like that makes mine seem like a better deal, anyone who's waited in an autograph line would understand the extreme hassle of doing these especially in a frenzy like Star Trek actors are surrounded by.

When I had met Nimoy the first time bringing my Bally backglass along, he stated that he had never seen the Bally S.T. pinball backglass and was very impressed at the beautiful artwork and colors. When I had brought a bunch of marquees and two control panels for him to sign (My cockpit and Dan's upright conversion) Nimoy stated that he had never seen or heard of the Star Trek video arcade (at least the marquee & control panel) and thought I was crazy for collecting coin-op.

The first time I met Shatner he also stopped when his robot-signing reached me and my Bally backglass. Shatner started asking me questions about it and commenting about its beauty and couldn't believe how far my Trek was (almost word for word what Nimoy said the Shat re-iterated on his own). I had found out afterwards that Shatner almost never will look up at someone and almost never stops and talks or answers a question... I saw him flat out ignore a couple dozen people asking him a question or wanting a picture. The trekkies were looking at me like a god because I managed to get the great Shat stopped in his tracks to not only look up and talk with me, but was asking questions of me and shooting the shat with me! I also asked Shatner if he'd ever seen a Star Trek backglass or pinball and he said no. I don't remember asking him about the video arcade parts (my cockpit control panel and the marquee for sale).

Zitt! Thats sweet, I couldn't remember who had that 25th ed. Star Trek pinball that had inspired me to try it w/ my Bally backglass! I've since I aquired some bitchin' shit and meeting a bunch of either celebrities involved somehow with arcades and pinball machines. I'll have to PM you so we can shoot the shat and notes on our various machine's unique mods.

I had decided a while ago that one thing I didn't like about KLOV was the who's cock is bigger threads, my game is better than yours, neener neener or just generally putting my whole life, collection, etc. on the internet for everyone to see. I haven't bothered posting any threads about some of the crazy adventures and stories or the custom graffiti that a few of my machines have all over them now. I love alot of the guys here, but figure its nobodies business on the WWW much about my personal life or collecting or who I'm dating on facebook, etc. LOL, it sounds crazy and aluminum foil hatted, but when I guy at work came up to me and started going on and on about PIGOUT, me being the world champion, and wow really cool collection can I come over? He told me that he found me on some video game sight! I realized that I was an idiot and posting HEY I'm leaving for two weeks, here's my collection, here I am 1400 miles from home right this moment.

Great story. Personally I think you should keep it. Personally I would have given the actors a open invite to come and play the game. Why don't you hang on to it? I hear another star trek movie is coming up. You can ebay it and get alot more for it.

I'd love to keep it... But I've had it a year and a half and done nothing with it. Part of my brain reprogramming has been if I don't have a plan for something and I'm not using it or absolutely in love, why is it sitting in a closet or on a wall neglected?

I haven't had that little voice on my shoulder to tell me to keep it, just a bunch of non collector and non trekkie friends that could give a crap less and don't get "it". Since I can find a reason to keep every little wire or bolt or doo-dad and my attachment and love affair with arcade hoarding is over, I figured I would see if there was interest to pass it along where it will get more love. It doesn't matter much either way to me at this point if I keep it or if it sells. I have a Star Trek cockpit machine that is signed, a pinball machine signed multiples and lots of other Trek memorabilia that I have no room or motivation to do anything with...

I understand letting go of stuff but If I buy the marquee I would have to build a machine around it not that I want to build one. I am Project over loaded. Laughs.

:) I know the feeling... I hymned and hawed well over a year about building an upright Asteroids conversion machine or something similar to use this marquee in.

I had also been thinking about actually making a custom marquee box to mount on top of my Star Trek cockpit machine and use this marquee along with it. Last year sometime I had figured out on paper how I could make a box that looked good and didn't hack up the machine so it was entirely bolt on and reversible, but the transporter never materialized with the marquee box on top of the game.

Would it be goofy or breaking a klov 10th commandment eff-up to build a nice looking marquee box and mount it on top of my cockpit thereby altering its originality?

That's pretty sweet, for any Star Trek fan. Good luck, I certainly think it is worth every penny of what you're asking for it.

And since I'm more of a Star Wars guy, if anyone has a Star Wars marquee signed by James Earl Jones, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, & Harrison Ford, please contact me... ;)

I didn't get one word from Shatner... but Nimoy said something to me if I recall.
I thought about doing the bally 78 but TBH; wasn't sure how to protect the signatures on the glass long term. The thought of crystal clear on both sides of the glass was making me ill.

True story I'm sure. Shat said nothing while I was there getting my translite signed. Actually; he may have asked if it was a pinball art... but my mind isn't recalling if it was shat or nimoy. The translite is def something they don't get often. Even the lines of attendees don't expect it.

Thanks. Feel free to PM or swap notes in my Sega ST Restoration Thread.
I got my STNG Pinball translite almost done too. I'm missing Levar and McFadden.
While your at it; check out my other ST project: http://www.austinmodders.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2092

YEap - that why I have motion activated web cams... and don't post "checkins" on Facebook... or until AFTER I get home. Luckly the Spousal unit is almost alway home.

Who Cares. It's YOUR machine.
Hell... MAybe my laser cutter could be of use to your box idea. ;P

I was paranoid of this also... So, what I did was bought every brand/type silver & black paint pens and did a couple months worth of studies and tests on pieces of glass, old marquees, plastic, etc. writing which pen I was using, doing lines, sigs, words, then allowing them to dry for periods of time and mess with them trying to smear or smudge, erase and scrape. Finally after I decided on what the best all around pen was all around for the surfaces and I went warp speed on the Star Trek parts. Since that time, I've had a bunch of marquees, artwork and backglasses done by other people and I found an even nicer and more favorite paint pen that does really great all around solid coloring, no streaking, permanent as hell after a few weeks. BUT you have to prep the pen perfectly for the person using it or risk making a huge mess and ruining the piece. Moving a backglass around in a crowd of thousands of people walking a few miles with it in my hands was ALOT of work and stress. When I originally did the Nimoy pieces I had damn near a 3 mile walk while trying to balance 8 or 9 various pieces in my hands/box and was rolling on 48 hours without sleep to make the mission happen.

Am I reading correct or misunderstanding, are you offering to help me build a marquee box so I can keep this marquee and find a use for it on my cockpit? If so I'd be very interested in going that route and will keep the marquee to put it to good use! Seeing your quality of work and attention to detail on your projects is shock and awe. Its not so much laziness or no skills or creativity on my part, but not having time and being burnt out after work and errands that stalls me out on wanting to add more projects onto my list.

I work in a shop with a sheetmetal bender that does nice marquee metal brackets. I was thinking of making the sides of the box look something like the shape of the monitor head/box plastics. Hmm... Let me try and put my idea into a lousy photoshop picture and show you what my ideas were and see if you think. Personally I think mods are cool when done tastefully and enjoy doing them myself! I was just seeing what anyone thought about the marquee box idea on my cockpit and if it was a dumb hideous idea or wasting my marquee on a lame project.

Yes. I don't want to do all the brainstorming - but you come up with an initial design and I'll be happy to help. If you have any plastics; I'll certainly offer to laser cut/etch the plastics for you. As an electrical engineer; I'm also willing to put some of that skill into the project if you need it.
I'll help when I can and offer suggestions.

For me modding / restoration is a welcome release from the work/errands/life issues. Obviously I have plenty of my own projects - but the thought of helping a fellow trekkie out on his vision kinda makes me giddy.

If you want to make the box look stock; maybe we should be thinking about some vacuum formed sides for the marquee. I have a new vacuum table I built for my restoration - maybe we can try to utilize it?
