I have star Trek that will just keep cycling the balls.Replaced the trough opto still will cycle.

If you live close to me, you better just let me have it. :(

Check your optos. The game tries to load balls in staged spots, and if the game isn't aware that the balls are there, it will keep trying to load them. So, that's what it sounds like it's doing. It doesn't know any better. Check where the balls are trying to be staged.

If the upper diverter isn't working, a ball never gets properly diverted to the right cannon and they will cycle. Check fuse 103 and check the upper diverter. If that is fine, check optos.

The upper diverter is controlled by transistor Q16 on the little auxiliary driver board. Check it as well as the diverter's coil.

I have a short write up on this here:

Next Gen can be a can of worms. Check the diverter as suggested but you should also check all of the optos under the play field.

Very nice write up: Stangbat. Good information for anyone that owns or plans to own a STTNG.

Thanks, I actually need to write up more. I've since gotten one of my own and had to fix a lot of stuff on it to get it 100%. There's a ton of stuff to check on the game but it is fun once you get it fully working.

my under playfield diverter is not working in test. have check q16 q8 they are good.

divertor

the divertor on my machine was so gummy and stuck open that the coil had melted the coil sleeve, see if it will move at all by hand and go from there.

the coils are good they will work if i ground q16 but not in test

Im gonna go out on a limb here and say you might want to make sure your j103 connector is plugged in.

If I had a penny for every time it ended up being a connector problem, I'd be able to afford a new coil, transistor and sleeve that I didn't really need. ; )
