I just picked up a star trek cockpit out of a warehouse, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the body from yellow to white again without paint. Someone told me about some way of putting some chemicals on it and leave it in the sun to get it to go back to white. I couldn't find it online anywhere though. Anyone have any suggestions. The combo they were talking about was magic white or magic bright something like that.

I dont think you would get it back to a uniform white

I would paint using plastic dye/paint

My favorite brand is SEM

I would also use a adhesion promotor

Give it a shot, I don't think it'll hurt anything and if it doesn't work out you can always paint. Becareful working with hydrogen peroxide of the strength, it can be nasty stuff.

warning

I have several clients who are chemical engineers who say dont do it
The yellowing on the sega stuff( I took them mine to examine ) is a different formula then a Nintendo case or old pc plastic . Sega could have prevented this but it costs more money
so it was a savings that left us like this . The process over time of changing it back can cause your plastics to denigrate

Use the Krylon white ( the one with no primer needed ) Sticks to wood metal and plastic

Go slow even light coats you will not need to sand and it will exactly match the original white
it makes a huge difference .
I will post some pics of mine side by side before during and after
