star trek captains chair artwork? was it ever reproduced?

I looked around, couldn't find it. No scans of it on Joymonkey, arcade art library, or Vectorlib. One of my side plastics has a large break through the artwork. I can easily repair the damage, but without artwork it would suck.

no offense, but this thread moving is seriously making me FUCKING pissed. Fuck it. for sale threads only from me from now on.

Don't know why it was moved... you aren't restoring it, just asking a question.

Instead of going off like a rocket, how about PMing one of the mods to ask? We're reasonable people.

I'm in the same boat, DPtwiz. I do have some high resolution scans of the bezels, side art from an upright, etc. I downloaded them a long time ago. I go to get my chair next week and I want to have are reproduced. I had emailed ThisOldGame but hadn't heard back. Also considered ArcadeOverlays LLC as an option but no one to my knowledge has made this.

I would like to get it done.

I too am in the same boat. I have torn side art and nobody seems to have reproductions on this. I've been looking for years - Nothing! Not even NOS.

I'd be in for a set!

+1

Anyone else?

You might try Rich @ thisoldgame again. I could swear I saw him talking about his new service of printing custom art like mamemarquees...

Frustrating, I know. We are implementing a protocol that involves redirects so you can find your thread when they are moved to a different section.

I will be honest and say I would have moved it too as the original post doesnt follow the typical restoration thread format. Of course, like anything, that is just my interpretation.

This is a thread about restoration IMHO.

We're talking about restoring Star Trek SOS captain's chairs with original art.

The semantics are a little annoying as yes, "it is a question about whether graphics are made or not." But really? I mean, the motivation is clearly to talk about a restoration project. And even if it were not directly for that reason, it still qualifies to remain in that forum.

This kind of micro-management of threads can be annoying--and it must have happened before to get him so bent out of shape. It's just a BBS--albeit the one I spend most of my time on of late--but I think it's OK to have a stray thread or two... and if it's remotely related who the hell cares?

Now back to this artwork thread! Who can we get to listen to us about needing art for a restoration project?!

I've PMed and emailed ThisOldGame and he must be too busy. Is there anyone else that we could try?

Ive been talking with another member on this art and looking at this artwork now.
The art appears to be the same for all versions Dedicated cabinet, conversion, and chair
and just cut/cropped differently.

The scans need some cleanup and will have to verify all the measurements/cuts.

well, in the first two pages of the general section, here was what i found in about 2 minutes that would be considered "wrong section" just like mine was categorized.

The amount of subforums is getting silly. A shipping and packing subforum? really?

as of late, i'm irritated with how some of the things on here are going down, and with the actions of a few members here as well. I'd be happy to just stick to the for sale section and not contribute anything more than that.

and for the chickenshits who post the anonymous tags, the "BLOW ME" tag is just for you.

you dont consider interest threads general discussion?

I agree the categories/subs seem a bit much but this orginally shouldve been posted in
Restorations, Cabinets, and Cosmetics to get techinical-IMO

but now its in the right since your debating categories, maybe you should have the mods change the title of the thread :D

hell, let's break down the for sale section into:

complete working games
partially working games
complete non working games
games missing parts
pcbs working
pcbs kinda working
pcbs not working
pcbs missing parts
empty nice cabinets
empty not so nice cabinets
power supplies working
power supplies not working
wiring harness complete
wirining harness not complete
coin door complete
coin door incomplete
brackets
bezels
control panel overlays
side art
marquees
joysticks
trackballs
buttons
misc

that should cover it :D

We are trying our best. Having a more categorized and organized forum really helps users to find what they are looking for quickly. No one likes change. Some deal with it betters than others.

I think its clear we need an artwork subforum as it seems to be the natural progression. Also, why the angst towards a specific forum? Haven't I read here that if someone doesn't like a particular section they should just not read it or even go into it? I do believe there were about 100 or so users who may have said something like that before but I could be wrong.

Rich,

I think that there may be enough interest on this artwork and it seems that it has never been reproduced before. NOS artwork never seems to surface on the Captain's Chair.

If it's something that you think you would be interested in reproducing for arcade community, maybe you could start a Gauging Interest - ST: SOS Captain's Chair Sideart - and see where it goes?

You'd have an exclusive on this!

Just my $ .02
