Star Trek Arcade

I went to go see it. Dedicated cab. Side art is a little worn. Game plays blind. No neck glow, but the monitor fan is running.

He wanted $350 for it. I think he said he paid $600, brought it home from SF and then it died after a little while.. He had some guys come out to look at it and they could not fix the monitor.

He also has a phoenix (maybe pleadies) he wants to sell.

Yea, that's a little steep for a ST:SOS with a dead monitor. It's a DIY project, even Chad at Arcadecup won't touch a G08 monitor. Parts are hard to come by - right now as it sits at $350, that's one expenisve paperweight!

Come on guys, are you all that jaded? $350 for the entire game? You've got to be kidding. The game can be repaired and with the Sega multi game out there, it could be a pretty nice machine for someone. Plus you could always offer a few bucks less. It's not like the monitor is unfixable.

I don't know, I'm no monitor expert by any means, but I've been working on my ST:SOS for quite a long time, and it's all been mainly monitor problems. Even to the point of practically replacing every component in a rebuild.
And I still don't have it right.

Agreed! Those G08's are a BIT@H to work on. No flybacks available for the HV section. Also, a lot of times when you get one, the G08 has already been hacked with many repairs!
At least it's playing blind... but there is no substitue vector monitor that you can sub, the K6100 isn't compatable off the shelf.

I thought that there was another Star Trek that sold recently (in the last 2 months) off CL in the Bay Area - I'm thinking it's the same one and the new owner struck out on getting the monitor repaired.

Actual its the same one from the same seller. My guess is he had a buyer who backed out.

He listed it about 2 weeks ago. He did say he had a few interested but I think I was to only one to go and see it. He did say he was thinking of putting it on ebay.. There was a 2nd dedicated that popped up on CL about 3 months ago. I spoke to the lady and she sold it to some in the central valley or modesto area..

My interest is low as I have 2 tac/scans.. I was going to make the star trek a multisega and keep my tac/scan intact as its the only vertical game. But I have a eliminator & space fury control panels, so I might be better off converting tac/scan #2 and finding a star trek convert a cab control panel..

I do have a blah dedicated star trek control panel I could hack up for a multisega.. That why I went to go see it. Its just a bit too rough for what he was asking..

That makes sense.
Recenly a ST:SOS boardset sold on eBay for ~$125...
If the cab were in great shape...
There might be something there, but the monitor is what makes peeps shy away from this game.

Zitt has a great restoration thread on his ST:SOS cockpit - now that's a project!!

I was actually pretty interested in it originally, but he stopped responding when i tried to set up a time to see it. Figured he had sold it. Then I went and bought a pinball, so do not have the funds available anymore.

When I bought mine I got the game without a monitor for $175. I bought a monitor off Ebay with no burn but was not working. I had Chad fix it and have had no problems for several years. There are other people who will fix this monitor besides Chad...one place that comes to mind is P&L Monitor, although they don't get many in for repair. I think KLOV'r Mongo might also work on these, or at least offer advice, but I haven't talked to him in a few years. He did write a manual for working on these. I am sure there are other people that can help with this monitor.
