Hey everyone,

I just bought this Star Castle from the Captain's Auction, and from the pictures I can't tell what is going on with the monitor. I couldn't find any restoration pictures or a video that shows the individual pieces or assembly method of the monitor, the gel overlay, and the bezel. Are they all 3 seperate pieces?

I guess my questions are, why is the gel overlay looking perfectly centered, but there is a piece of plexiglass that is falling out, and hopefully that is not the monitor itself?

What do you guys think? They said it was complete, and it does look like the monitor is there and mounted? I'm just trying to get a little piece of mind of what I may have to deal with, and if the price paid wasn't too egregious.

So doing some more searching and looking at an Armor Attack I think the monitor assembly parts are as follows?

Monitor Tube
Red, Orange and Yellow overlay sitting on glass tube
Blue tinted plexiglass
Black Monitor "frame" bezel
Star Castle Bezel

So it just looks like the blue tinted plexiglass is sliding around, do you guys think?

The orange and yellow rings are one piece with the blue background. The gel overlay is semi-solid and is normally just held on to the monitor with adhesive.

From the auction pictures, it just looks like the overlay has slid down a little bit. The monitor and bezel appear to be secure.

Got it today, and it appears to be complete, minus a back door.

It looks like this inside. It's pretty structurally sound. It blows the breaker I guess as they were tripped when I checked the power supply (haven't plugged it in yet). Going to methodically test everything before I turn it on. One other bad thing is there is a very dark dot burned in on the middle of the monitor.

I may or may not have overpaid for this (probably did), however I finally have a star castle! Yay me!

Congratulations! I'm sure you would have located this on your own, but here is a document that no Cinematronics Vector owner should be without. Excellent information concerning operation, troubleshooting and repair. Tried to upload the Star Castle manual as well - but it exceeds the file size limit.
