Star Castle gets arse kicked....

Very interesting technique. :) If I ever get me a Star Castle I will be sure to try that.

Wow...that blows my "technique" out of the water.

Does anyone know how many enemy screens he killed off? Was it around 255?

That looks like the Rev 1 boards. No way he could do that on my machine. You watch and the bomb aren't nearly as fast as his ship. My version the bombs a way faster than the ship. You don't even have a chance.

I dunno, doesn't seem like a whole lot of fun just flying across the screen like that over and over again.

Dude...vid 9/9 he's at 3,386,610 with 576 men. Dude just straight up owns the game. There's no way the dude can die...

It looks like at some point he flipped it... and stopped playing... the sparks got slow at some time too.

the report that came out on the SMAC list is that the game crashed.

John also holds the WR for Asteroids Deluxe. he's a good technician and helped us a lot with the NW Pinball and Gameroom Show back a few months. overall he's a great guy and i hope he goes for the Star Castle record again sometime soon.

I was just going to mention that I used a similar technique on Asteroids Deluxe. Run from the killer satellites!! (run coward?) Run away, and then turn to strafe them while you're still coasting. They sometimes get confused on screen boundaries and can't decide to chase you off screen or intercept you when you reappear.

Figures this guy would rock A.D. Brute force just doesn't work on these games. But I'm closing in...my high score is somewhere in the 25-30k range. :p Hard friggin game. I never played Star Castle BITD, but I was a master at Yar's Revenge. I need to check out Star Castle next time I see a working one.

Friends of John McAllister call him "The Machine". He kicks ass at everything he feels like playing.

he could - if he decided - break the world record... 3+ mill and 576 ships....

That's what he was going for...I think he said in the chatroom he'd hoped to do it by 36-38 hours (or something like that). He posted a video on youtube when it crashed, and you could see it wasn't acting right. Parts of the defense rings were disappearing without him shooting it, and eventually, he blew up the ship and died at the same time, and that's when it reset.
