Star Castle cab repair

So everything functions properly but the cabinet could use some help. The bottom front corners are completely broken off. I don't have much experience working with wood. I hear some people use Bondo to fill those areas in and sand it. Is that really strong enough for corners? Once the Bondo is on, are corner protectors recommended?

As a side note, I ordered all new buttons and an overlay. They're pretty ugly.

I think you're looking at too big of areas to use straight Bondo on, I'd take your best shot at replacing the corners with wood and hiding any imperfections with Bondo. If it's water damaged I'd use Minwax Wood Hardener on it first too.
 
Thanks for the link. Still haven't tackled the corners yet. I did replace the overlay, buttons, and painted the metal trim pieces tonight though. Lookin' good.
