It seems the geniuses at IT decided it wasn't "OK" for people to turn off NETWORKING of their Silver Strike 2007 machines as they removed the option (Golden Tee Fore allows you to turn off networking)...

As such, SSB will try to connect to a network at power up... it takes about 2 minutes for the damn thing to time-out and move on network free... does anyone know of a hack to eliminate this process? It's a bit annoying.

Maybe try unplugging the usb to the reciever? If it can't detect it maybe it won't try?

Alternatively,
Just calling IT's tech support might help. Maybe they have a secret setting?

IT Tech Support - "There is no way to disable networking. SSB2007 continuously attempts to update itself via a wireless network."

Bummer... inconvenience but not a deal breaker.

:D

Well,

It looks like one option is to purchase the SSB2009 OFFLINE update kit. $399.00 for a DVD and a security chip sounds a bit steep though. Does anyone perform this upgrade at a discounted price?

I wonder what would happen if it actually connected to a wireless network? Connect to IT and fail the update? Explode? Might be faster.

I don't do wireless... (my whole house is wired...every room save the bathrooms)... and none of my neighbors networks seem to be "found"...

There IS a Sprint "chip" of sorts on the I/O board... but it also has a setting for Dynamic IP and a place to put in static IP so I assumed it was standard wireless. I don't know anything about cellular frankly. It DOES mention a "tower" during tests though...
