Squeezed the trigger and smoke started coming out of the gun!

I have a zero point game with Unico light guns. I popped a Lethal Enforcers pcb in there and fired it up. Got a big surprise when I squeezed the trigger and smoke started coming out of the gun. It was pretty cool - I wish I had filmed it. Anyway, I figured I plugged the guns connector in backwards at the pcb. Can someone confirm that is what I did. The unico guns hook to a small daughter pcb on the zero point game but I plugged them straight onto the Lethal Enforcers pcb. I'm sure this is a common occurrence but I just wanted confirmation.

I've plugged HAPP guns in to various PCB backwards... no smoke. The guns didn't work, but they were fine when reversed. I suspect your guns pinouts are different than norm and you may have run +5vdc down your gnd...

I'm pretty sure i did exactly the same thing with the same games. From recollection the pins aren't the same on the pcbs even though they're the same connector so you will have blown a capacitor in the gun. Easy fix and should work fine once you've replaced the cap.

Cool. It will take me a few days before I get to open it up. Would be great if it was just a cap.

Well, I finally got around to messing with the guns and they appear to be fine. I haven't opened them up (probably a mistake) but they work great. I know I should open them up and fix whatever was smoking but I am too lazy since they are working fine at this point.

While Zero Point has a 4 pin connector, they moved some wires around.

It is NOT plug and play with happ 45s. You have to swap the 5v and ground wires around. It is labeled on the PCB which pin is which.
