Anyone buy this game for their kids? Been eyeing this game for quite some time and everytime they get a new shipment of figures in, they fly off the shelf. I know its just a money maker that forces the people to buy the Characters to expand the game, but I was just wondering if the main game is quite long? Gets old fast? I think the back of the box said only 2 players can play at the same time on one system. If thats the case they would have done better to make it a 4 player instead of 2.

I really don't know as it seems like more of an excuse to sell figures. Spyro games haven't held my interest since insnomic moved on and left the rites to the character behind. It makes we wonder how Spyro has lasted this long after "year of the dragon".

Things like this are fun for a few weeks...the figures sell as a fad and then they fade into obscurity...

The game isn't for me. I was thinking about buying it for the kids. I myself have no interest in games like this.

Not for me either, it's a pretty basic game with a marketing gimmick to sell expensive figurines stuck on (the figures are $15 EACH here in Australia, or 3 for $30). The gameplay is pretty basic, eg there's no jump button, only jump pads.

And I absolutely LOATHE the TV commercial for this game, and it's on all the friggin' time.

But kids seem to love the game, and it is 2 player coop. Must be popular, the figurines are usually sold out and hard to find.

I have it and most of the figures.

I am not a kid and got it for my niece and loved it. Very fun and funny and is not difficult to play. Yes the thing to sell figures is true but they are fun to play with in game.

Everyone I know that owns it, their kids love it, and they ended up liking it.

My kids have it and they love it. We've been scouring the stores since Xmas for more figures, but no luck! We bought Whirlwind (the Target exclusive) for my one son for Xmas and now look at them- going for $50-$100 on eBay!

I would compare gameplay to the Lego games- easy to pick up and play, but still a lot of fun deep into the game. When they get stuck, they ask me to take over one of their guys and help... "Oh, OK- I guess I'll help..." ;)

Whirlwind didn't stay exclusive for long...they're easy to find now. All the prices on Ebay are people trying to take advantage of stock shortages, it's ridiculous.

Our son got it from his Grandpa for Xmas with about 7 or 8 figurines, we just bought him 5 more for his birthday.
Every store within 2 hours here was sold out after Xmas until the local Walmart got another shipment of those 5 different ones in a little over a week ago. They're sold out again...

So I've been searching for Skylanders figures since Xmas with no "real" luck. It seems we always find the ones the kids already have. But today, I found a 3-pack with Drobot, Flameslinger and Stump Smash. I bought it since the kids don't have Drobot and Flameslinger, but they already have Stump Smash. Anyone need Stump Smash and wanna trade (longshot, I know)? He will be opened from this new pack, but never used.

As soon as they put them on the shelf at night they are gone by morning. Still thinking about getting this game for the kids, but with the whole crazy over getting the little statues, I'm not so sure. Anyone have an idea of what the rarest one is at the moment?

AFAIK, one of the rarest is Sunburn. I can't even find many on eBay...

My 3 year old and I started playing it today. She enjoyed it but hasn't master walking around yet.

My 15 year old son with Autism thinks its the best game ever! he loves how he can change characters by just putting another figure on the portal. He has been saving his allowance and has gotten quite afew figures so far.
I think its pretty cute to watch also, and i was impressed with how nicely done the figures are.

Here is an ad on the local Craigslist where they have some figures for sale. Not sure if anyone needs any of these but figured i'd post anyways.
