Hey there folks.

The arcade where I work has an upright Spyhunter that now needs a part - I've done some hunting around and I'm not able to locate one.

I'm looking for the Accelerator Lever and Gear Assembly - old Midway part number AA27-00016-0000 - the bar that bends at 90-degrees and hooks into the foot pedal has sheered off - so now the players are unable to control the speed of the car.

I *could* get a friend to weld a piece back on to the end of the rod, but it is rather thin so I'm concerned that it will just break again.

Does anybody know if there are any available out there in the after-market?

Thanks,
-Rob

spy hunter

I don't think that Spy Hunter ever had reproduction metal parts like this. In MN, these frequently get very abused by salt on peoples shoes in the winter, so I am kind of surprised someone hasn't.

When I re-did my SH, I stripped all the parts, then the rust, used naval jelly (x3) and then sprayed it with epoxy paint. Epoxy paint is very tough stuff.

I will try to attach a shot of the pedal details here so you can point out the exact piece.

In your picture, the bar sticks out through the cabinet opening on the right-side of the photo - it then bends at 90 degrees and attached to the foot pedal. That piece broke at the bend so our foot pedal isn't attached to it now.

That bar of part of the big gear piece in your photo.

welder?

Anyone who knows how to weld should be able to fix that pretty easily. A machinist, muffler shop or mechanic probably could do this in about 1 minute. Got a friend with a welder? :)

Then grind down the rough weld and re-paint.

I do...but given where it is broken and the size of the bar itself I'm not certain a weld will hold, but we will try it. I'm going to remove the part the next chance I get and see.

Maybe I am wrong, but that "looks" like it's just a rod that is pressed on one end then tapped or just drilled. Most machine shops should have all the tools to make one fairly cheaply if welding it doesn't last.

Thanks for the information folks, an associate of mine was kind enough to weld an extension on to the bar and we're back in business once again.
