Notice how many spy hunter steering wheels have a cracked up / broken plastic collar surrounding the red hub? The roll pins work their way loose and end up scraping the collar until they break through and cause damage. Additionally the hub and wheel will be loose and flop around with worn pins.
To avoid this failure from happening again, I took an alternative method and modified my steering hub by tapping the pin holes to a 1/4-20 thread and now use Allen grub screws to pin the hub to the shaft from both sides. No more worries about pins loosening and scraping and the hub is solid to the shaft reducing slop that much more.
