Ok, so my Spy Hunter had a power supply issue and just needed general maintenance so I decided to tear it completely down, clean, maintain, cap, etc. I switched over to the MCR switching power supply adapter and that took care of my power supply issue but now I have an issue where my car will just suddenly pull to the right or left and crash. Other times it will just for an instant pull to the left or right but then get back to normal before crashing. It seems to be related to the gas pedal because in 'player input' in the test menu the gas pedal readings also affect the steering wheel readings... but usually only when the steering wheel is in a certain position.

Hard to explain so I can make a video but in a nutshell the gas pedal is effecting the steering at times. Suggestions/advice?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a steer pot issue.
You can replace it or try to shoot some contact cleaner in it..

Check for bad connections with the machine off and the PCB disconnected.
wiggle wires or Look at the ohm reading of the pot when you steer and see if the pot jumps around.

Couple questions... where can I can a replacement pot? When you say disconnect it from the PCB do you mean the absolute position PCB?

Here is a link to a video that shows what's happening:

In a nutshell everything works perfectly except when the steering wheel is to the RIGHT 1... turning the wheel right just a touch it will jump and the gas pedal will also affect the steering when its to the RIGHT 1. Hope the video makes this clearer.

the absolute position pcb is what is common to both of those, i think. I would start by checking the wiring to that. After that, I would be stuck but would start researching threads that involved that board.

I was thinking the same thing about the PCB but I removed the pot and when I turn the shaft on the pot it turns very smooth except for one spot... there's like a catch in one spot. I'm wondering if that is where the problem is?? I assume the pot when turning the shaft should feel smooth? This one has just one subtle little catch in it. I'm going to replace it just to be sure.

You very well could have a steering pot issue and can replace that pot but if the gas pedal pot is making changes in steering input, that seems weird. Replace the steering pot first and then go from there.

although looking back at my video on gas pedal, it looks like pressing the gas pedal was impacting steering just not as badly as yours.

Congrats on the fix. Can you post what pot you got from digikey?
