Spy Hunter Side Art Tips

Looks like the spyhunter guy is going with the "wet" method as well.

You should have got some advice from Noice before jumping into a big project like this. Another page in side art what not to do history.

Sorry to see your install didn't turn out like you were hoping Jon, that really blows. I personally have always been on the side of wet method application for larger graphics but plain and simply it all comes down to surface preparation. A good couple coats of a high gloss polyurethane or a very good quality (cheap shit from home depot isn't gonna cut it) oil base paint will never cause the problems you are having. A light mist of a Rapid Tac or something with a little alcohol is better than the old soap and water method as it's getting harder to find clear dish soaps without all the frilly fragrances and anti bacterial crap in em. The trick with the wet method is a light mist that's just enough to suspend your artwork, if you can bathe your family in the water thats sheeting off your cabinet, you've used too much. Next time, try a sherwin williams "all surface enamel" i've used it for years and it's never ever failed me.

Well... I finished the Spy Hunter tonight. While not perfect, the left side went on quite a bit better DRY than than the other side did WET.

I've also had some time to really consider the situation. I'm an anal bastard and I think a lot of my ire is because I am such an anal son-of-a-bitch. After taking a step back and re-evaluating the situation I've come to the conclusion that the right side is acceptable... at least for now... it still looks SOOO much better than it did before I replaced the side art...

Here are some comparison pix:

i think it was Splattergatz that used a method where he tilted the the top of the game towards him and started the side art at the top and then worked his way down. I think he said he just stuck a 2x4 under the opposite side or something like that to get the game to lean just enough. This way, the side art only comes in contact when you want it to as you work your way down the game. Never tried it myself but it seems like it could be a good way to do it. Anyone else try this ?
