I plugged in a few of my games tonight - and my spy hunter that normally plays just fine - came up with a bunch of crap garbled on the screen - audio was trying to do a loud tick sound - but would only do it once every 10 seconds or so...

I unplugged the game - plugged it back in - background attract audio (spy hunter theme) was there - but garbage on screen - said error rom d7 (updside down) and then upright on a different part of the screen
I shut the game off...

came back about 10 min later - plugged it it - and everything was fine - until I went to play a game - started playing it and about a minute into the game - it made a loud and I mean LOUD constant noise and screen garbled...

I am not sure what this means - anyone know? Anyone know how to fix this?

Also - for the record - it is VERY humid around here today.... could this have anything to do with it?

Thanks

This sounds like a ROM socket connection issue to me. I had a similar one on my SH a couple weeks ago - a D4 error. After searching the manual and the web in vain trying to figure out which ROM "D4" refers to, I gave up and just reseated all the ROMs in the 3 board stack. Everything worked fine after putting it back in.

If you're able to find a ROM cross-reference, you should post it, because I wasn't able to find one, and since I reseated all my ROMs, I still don't know which one was the culprit.

for awhile my spy hunter would make a pop pop pop pop pop sound, about every second for a few minutes before playing. Never really found anything wrong but I did reseat the interconnects between the boards and rebuild the connector on the ssio board
the humidity may have alot to do with it

Now that the humidity has settled down - I decided to go and plug in my spy hunter again - No issues what so ever.... hmmmm humidity can screw things up that badly????

Have you replaced your MCR cables? If not you may want to.

Bob has them for about $15-$20.
