OK lets talk Spy Hunter Side Art!
NiceMite.com was nice enough to send me his orginal art to vector and reproduce.
So lets see if theres enough interest to warrant a SCREENPRINTED set of this side art

This would be for the full side that would have the black and gray borders, 3 color racing stripes, and the center blocks which were silkscreened Clear to give it more dimension
(which alot of them have yellowed with age)

So is there at least 25 people to do a screenprint run to make this a reality at $150 a set?

this DOSE NOT include the full color center graphic allready avaialble
and if I screen these they would surpass the orginal in quailty as its just not possible for me to print something that bad :D

Technically SpyHunter is by far the worse printed sideart Ive ever seen.

for more detail info on the orginal itself check out my COSP blog post

Man, I'd most likely be interested. I have the other art, but I've held off putting it on in case this sort of thing ever happened.

Glad you could make use of the art from the crap cab I had. I didn't know you were considering doing a screen printing of the stripes. Sounded like you were just helping someone out on personal project. Very cool.

I just sold my art that a member did because I ended up with a machine with decent art.
HOWEVER, if I am needed for the cause I will buy a set. Never know, I may want to make mine perfect one day, though it would be hard to ditch the original art that has the center graphic screened on as well. Hell I bought an extra pole position cpo for no apparent reason...

Rich, thanks for posting this... and more importantly, taking this on. I was holding off posting anything until I heard more from you. Looks like it's a go! Woo hoo!

So, I last posted months ago about doing another run. I got held up and then started the process of cleaning up the artwork a lot. Since you have done a bunch of cleanup, we should be to a very nice state now.

I'll resurrect my old post and see if those folks are still interested. My last count put me at 10 sets, but several more people have contacted me since. With you behind this, I wouldn't be surprised if we can hit 25.

I've been crying for this for a long time. Even got screwed out of payment for 2 sets of the art from a member of the last group that started reproducing it. Lots of promises but no action. This has been covered in another thread. Nuff said. Personally, I think that the art SHOULD include the graphic so that we don't have to go thru the hassle of putting on 2 sets of art and making certain the center art is positioned properly. Some of us just aren't that talented. Nothing like ruining TWO sets of art instead of just one. I'd pay a little more for the cetner graphic to avoid the hassle factor. There will still be interested parties that want the center decal only if their cabinet is clean enough. I've seen lots of cabinets that were candidates for that art only. Not my call but that's my opinion. and yes...put me down for three sets of art either way. People have been asking for this for a long time. I'm surprised that more have not commented on wanting this. If we can get the count up, would the art get cheaper? BTW Thanks for taking this on....and yes, that art you have looks terrible. Must have been a Monday run.

I would guess Rich wants to leave off the center graphic because he wants to silk screen the stripes on and won't be able to make the screens for the center graphic. Maybe there are other options like ink jetting the center graphic then lay down the stripes? No idea...

Just read his blog at:
http://www.coinopspace.com/profiles/blogs/the-spy-who-loves-me
sounds like he wants to reproduce it like it was done in later produciton runs...in two pieces:

Later I'm sure it was decided to make it easier to do it as a 2 piece application with the center graphic
done process in a smaller setup which would allow for a tighter registration and the large full side was the done in a regular spot color screen print.

So whats this mean for any possible means of reproduction Side Art?
Well with the full color graphic already available at GameStencils.com that leaves the full side border/stripes art.

Orginally this was done both process color and spot color screenprint.
process color is extremly expensive especailly for something this size
theres proably not enough cabs out there to even make it cost effective
The only advantage of screening the stripes and bordes is to include the blocks of Clear that on some cabs may look yellow. Something you cant do on an inkjet.

I got involved with this project in helping out those that fell short on the previous inkjetted runs, dont know all the details but Im working with him to fix that. So those that paid into this project before should still see some art one way or another.

So if theres not enough interest to silkscreen this it may make more sense to have Prok/Gamestencils.com inkjet this in 1 piece since he proably has more time in cleaning up th ceneter graphic than I do on these stripes.

The quailty of all these prints will vary to some degree thats just the nature of how they were originally printed. Regestration would be difficult on pieces this big, thats why they most likley switch to a 2 piece the smaller graphic wouldve been easier to register colors and the larger piece was easier to screen for the spots seperatly.

I think they did a much better job printing the art on my current spy hunter than they did on what I sent you. I didn't notice what a difference there was until you posted about how bad it is.
