I just got a spy hunter, which works pretty nicely, but the left fire button doesn't work.

The reason I find this to be a problem is I want to steer and fire with the left hand and switch from high to low gear with the right.

Anyway, I think I could get in there and either jumper the wire from right fire to left fire, or replace the switch or whatever is necessary, but are these a bitch to get apart and reassemble?

each button on the spy hunter yoke fires a different weapon. Of course the machine guns are the only weapon you have all the time. You have to get the other weapons. Basically the left trigger does nothing until you get the weapon that it works for.

Doesn't the player have the option of shooting the machine gun wiht either the left or right button? I understand picking up smoke screen, oil, etc.

but I should be able to fire machine guns with either side, no?

nope. You have 2 triggers and two buttons on the yoke. There are 4 weapons. machine guns, oil slick, smoke screen and missiles. Each button controls one weapon.

I know you are right, so I am venting now.

You mean to tell me, that a guy cannot fire, and control the freaking hi/lo gear at the same time? Unless you use the left hand to hold the right trigger.

seems pretty stupid

thanks Dan

edit: I suppose the good news is I don't have to perform surgery on the driving yoke.

I only shift from low to high gear when the game starts or when I crash. I control the speed with the pedal. That allows me to always keep my finger on the trigger while driving.

Left fire button is missles - i know - it is counter to what you remember (just got one and was surprised).

By the way - if you have a button issue - and find you need a replacement button - Radio shack sells small buttons that work just great in there (its a tight fit). You just have to shave the head on the button from RS.

As p1899m said, you rarely have to shift once the car is going. You'll find that this is not a big deal at all once you start playing.

ok, that's good to know. I am pretty horrible at this game right now. I will have to use the pedal to control speed and see how it goes.

You typically don't want to be firing all the time either -- you need to be making aimed shots because when you shoot a car in front of you it stops immediately and becomes instant death for you when you hit it.

So you shoot and then dodge to the side.

You'll get the hang of it. Learning curve is higher with this game than with many others but it's oh-so-worth it.

replacement button - part # ???

Anyone have a part# for a working replacement of the top 2 fire buttons? (smoke and oil slick)

You checked Mylstar's store out yet?

Or PMed him?

parts

Yes. Very nice stuff and very, very expensive. The buttons are $20 each and the plastic button caps are $10 each. ouch!

I was looking at Mylstar's site for Spyhunter parts and he's out of the switches for the fire buttons. I did find these looks like the same manufacturer and part. I'm going to order a couple.
