About a week ago, maybe 2, there was a thread that commented on flaking of the Spy Hunter bezel where the weapon lights are. So in an effort to save the bezels, I thought I would share my solution. Since Spy Hunter uses 12v to light the weapons, I thought I would try a 12v LED. The only problem is that they only come in super bright cool white. YUCKKK! All the weapons were, well, white and the super brights do get a little warm. Since LEDs are more concerned about current than voltage, I simply made an adapter w/ 470Ω resistors. Between the adapter and the resistor in the LED, that brought the current down under 20mA. (Actual testing w/ a meter gives results closer to 10mA). Now, we can use regular colored LEDs (I recommend frosted) to light the weapons. More vibrant colors and no heat to ruin the bezel. The colors in the pics are just what I had extra, I don't think I'm going to keep them those colors. One last note, I did notice a slight ghosting, when all the weapons were lit, but it's not noticeable when the bezel glass is on.

Heh, pretty cool! (no pun intended... I think...) ;) I love the way colored LEDs bring out the graphics on some of these games.

Thanks for sharing. :beerchug:

AAAHHH that is fantastic!!!! :cool::cool:

I just got my 9/10 bezel in the mail this week and so I'll be trying the same trick. Thanks for sharing!

I'd like to see this as a kit to retrofit machines. I always get a smile when I manage to have my SH car fully loaded with all lights active.

great idea! When I finally get my Spyhunter and Zookeeper back, I now plan on trying this or buying a kit if you make one available :) Thanks for sharing!
